Dar and I just finished season one. I found absolutely nothing redeeming in the whole thing. It was simply vulgar. From start to finish. Vulgar. Only one character even approached honorable, much less likable.

We watched a couple episodes and lost track of the number of people murdered. I assumed they were fed to the cows. We couldn’t see the appeal of the show. Too many volatile crazy people and no real “ good guys” to be found. We decided to pass on it. I can’t imagine making it through an entire season.

I prefer the series involving Jellystone.

The horse trough scene is memorable.

A lot of scenes are memorable in yeesh sort of way, but the trough scene was not too bad, as I recall.

We have been avoiding it. I do like action movies, I’m somewhat embarrassed to say — senseless violence for the sake of senseless violence. But Yellowstone does seem to be about a lot of people with zero redeeming features, who love senseless violence.

We watched a couple of episodes expecting something completely different. I know people rave about it but it’s not for us.

Only one character even approached honorable, much less likable. Which character was that? It's been a while since I've seen it. We watched season one. We intended to go on to season two, but season one seemed to be enough. I'm not interested in any of the spinoffs, either - maybe if they were about a different family. And just for Steve's benefit (and Paul's), I am constantly amazed they decided to film on location in North Dakota. The scenery is a redeeming quality. I tend to associate the name "Yellowstone" with Wyoming.

I have not seen any of Yellowstone, but the description reminds me of Deadwood, which I did enjoy.

We watched a few episodes. Loved the scenery. Liked the fact that it didn't romanticize ranch life. I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. There was no protagonist. We also tried 1883, which is the prequel. Neither series is for us.
Of the new shows that we've tried so far, the only one we really like is The Irrational.

Tried episode one. It has rather failed to grip. I'll probably give it another chance but not optimistic. My stream has a lot of commercials which will probably seal it's likely future, un-binged fate.
Rob, so far it has very little similarity to the gripping, remarkable and memorable Deadwood.

Agreed, not very similar to Deadwood. But occasionally it does have, "well that was an unnecessary bit of nudity" scenes, much like Deadwood did (though Deadwood did to a greater extent). If the actor or actress is OK with it, I suppose I am too.

I find it interesting (and understandable) that so far everyone here is “meh” about the show. Must be all the higher IQs here.
In that oft mentioned horse trough scene if one were able to look past her to the backdrop my place is about 2 miles over that away. Past the boobs.

Never heard of the show, never heard of the scene, sounds like I haven't missed anything.

Only one character even approached honorable, much less likable. Which character was that? Kayce's Indian wife. The only one who sees the horror surrounding her and chooses to try to leave it.

Never heard of the show, never heard of the scene, sounds like I haven't missed anything. And it is quite unusual for you not to be aware of something.🙄

It's a common story device these days where all the characters are flawed. Supposedly like real life. And the more successful and powerful a character is, the more flawed they are. Of course, they're supposed to have a good side too. But even the nicest characters have some shit going on somewhere.
Like real life?
Where's the Lone Ranger when you need him ?

I think that's why I continued to watch the entire season. I kept expecting the expected redemption. I kept expecting the corner to turn as it always seems to -- so that we finally see a good side. It never came. I complained about Suits for that very reason ... and was proven wrong in the long run. It was far from perfect, but the flawed characters gained a plausible likeability as they grew and showed a good side.
