Good morning. It should be a pleasant day here. The world's a mess but we muddle on.
We're under a high pollution advisory. We can't very well stop breathing, though.
Enjoy your day.

Up too early, nice Classical Stretch workout.
I have a funeral today, will be a reader and pallbearer. What a remarkable life this lady led!
Then on to a family gathering of friends. I've been asked to give a 20 minute devotion.
Meanwhile, Wendy got an invitation to her semi-estranged son's place for a gathering. I've been praying for this for years.
All is good.

Don, that picture is our Blue Air hepa filter. We got it a couple of years back when the Chehelim Mtn wild fire came close to forcing us to evacuate. The smoke was horrid for days and days. Highly recommended. Nothing much going on here, other than 14 family members gathering for pupus and bunco. Lottery tickets for the bunco winners, and itβs a wrap. Foggy morning. I am starting to get used to them.
For you Elderly Instruments fans, Joe Konkoly, luthier and repairman of the highest caliber since 1987, has retired. I am hoping this means he will be devoting more time to building in his home shop. The Elderly repair shop is in the good hands of Steve now but it will seem strange not having Joe there. Life changes and moves on.
Enjoy the day.

Good morning. Clear and crisp here this morning, going up to 40 degrees later. About half of our snow has melted and more will dissappear today. I need to take the saucer I'm restoring out to the shop or garage to do some sanding today. Not sure if i can use one of my air sanders or if I'll have to do it by hand. After the sanding is completed I'll give it another coat of epoxy before I start painting on it.

Good morning. Best of luck to Joe Konkoly, whose OM #10 rolled my socks down in 2006.
Still cloudy here and about 40Β°F at the moment. Nothing big going on today; a trip to the USPS before 2:00 pm, some reading, guitar playing, hanging with the kid.
It's a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers kind of morning.

Lazy day ahead, might get a beard trim, might not. Will for sure make a Trader Joe's run, and I'm thinking that a dive bar burger sounds good. I've been meaning to check out Howard's Bar in Stillwater, hmmmm...

Another day in the Detroit Lions quest for the one Super Bowl before I die that I've been rooting for my entire life.
Oh, and cleaning up dog poop in the backyard, fixing the holes the damn puppy has dug in the backyard, and getting both dogs out to the neighbor's property so they can run their fool heads off.

Good morning. It's another Florida cold day here, sunny now supposed to get cloudy later. Looks like I'll be bundling up for my daily bike ride later. Shopping and messing around with my guitars are on tap for later today. Have good ones.

Nasty stuff, but he was able to recreate it pretty well. www.michiganradio.org/arts-culture/2018-01-26/artisans-of-michigan-building-cone-tone-resonators* Pre-Obamacare, most folks with pre-existing conditions were SOL being able to get insurance if their employer couldn't offer it. Not a comment on politics, but on healthcare and insurance costs.

Howard, I'm back from the bar they named after you in Stillwater, a charming burg on the banks of the St. Croix River. The cheeseburger lived up to its Star Tribune selection as one of the five best our food writers had in 2023, and was big enough that I brought half of it home. Berries and pineapple instead of fries is a nice option. Excellent Bloody Mary, too.
Feeling way contented.

OK, I lied. The bar is named after the co-owners' 80-pound dog, who is known for his love of house-cut French fries.

Cool weather here on the north coast. Cloudy with intermittent snow showers. Off to Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday to see what their therapy plan is for me.
Have good ones.

We weren't around Stillwater much last summer so I missed that it wasn't Whitey's anymore. My favorite feature at Whitey's is that the large front windows can swing completely open in the summer - something common in Chicago but unusual up here. We'll have to check it out.

Sun this morning turned to cloudy pretty early. Woke up, puttered around the house, went to the coffee shop to make my weekly grocery list, then off to the store. Not a lot of people out and about today. I went out walking this afternoon; it was dead quiet and dreary. Usually on a day like this a least a squirrel will cross my path and if I pay attention there might be an owl or a crow sitting silently watching me from a tree. Today I saw not one animal and heard not one bird. But I need to get out there during the gloomy times as much as I get out there during the active and sunny times, otherwise I'd never appreciate the latter.

I've gotten to where I like the bare trees in winter. I have to get out of town to find terrain like that but it's worth the trip.
