Good morning. Surprised to see no daily yet. I had a great day at Honeymoon Island State Park yesterday. I got a lot of great pictures, all sorts of birds and the Gulf version of the Loch Ness monster. I posted a bunch off much better pics on the photography board. Today I've got a routine follow up with the cardiologist and yard work. Oh boy! Have a great day.

I especially like that you're knowledgeable enough to know the types of birds you're capturing on film (so to speak). I originally typed that I liked that you knew the birds' names, but I don't know if you're that familiar with them. "Meet Franklin. Franklin is a Ruddy Turnstone. It says 'Franklin' on his business cards, but he's known as Frank to his friends."

It's a beautiful sunny day here, and my daughter and I are off to the hospital in Cedar Rapids late this morning for yet another appointment. This doesn't bother me at all, it gives me a chance to walk a real distance (it's a big place) and it'll feel good to use my legs in a longer walk.

I'm learning the names as I go. When I'm unsure the Merlin app id's photos and bird calls. Also the other birders help when I'm with them.

Good morning.
43F-68F partly cloudy.
Simon and Riley might spend the day napping outside. As it gets warmer Simon will start refusing to come in at night and I have to go get him.
I have a few house chores to do before heading down to the shop.
Good to see Todd getting out for a bit.

Thought I had a Dr appointment this morning, when I got there they informed me it had been changed to April 24th. That was news to me.
Now I'm sitting at Oscar's (restaurant) having breakfast.

I am pleasantly surprised that I am not sore after my yardwork yesterday. I had to stop a few times to rest after some easy tasks. It is not just age. I have been too food-indulgent and too physically inactive for the last few years.
Time to change.

I've had a couple of interesting bird days yesterday and today. Today I caught sight of a mockingbird. Only the second time I've seen one in Indiana, and the last time was 50 years ago in Indianapolis. Today I saw one on my route. I first caught sight of it in flight -- the striped wings are unmistakable -- and I hoped against all odds that the thing might land where I could see it a bit longer and maybe even get a photo. I got lucky. It landed on a wire high above where I was headed. Taking no chances of missing it completely, I shot a few pictures through my windshield. Then I pulled forward a little in hopes of catching it through my side window without glass in the way. I failed. It flew off before I could lean over to that side of the Jeep. But then....! It flew further up the road ahead and landed on a mailbox as if to say, "Well, what more could I do mailman? You wanna picture of me, here I am on a mailbox." A few weeks ago I posted a photo of an island on Palestine Lake that was covered with swans. Yesterday (and today) it is covered with pelicans. Hundreds of 'em.

Lots of pelicans last weekend, on the lake where my daughter lives, south central Wisconsin.

Today I planted rosemary in a pot and basil and mint in planters. I carefully avoided spooking the dove that's on a nest built on top of the folding chairs that are leaning against the house. Supposed to hit 90F tomorrow. I also have dealt with some financial stuff. Yesterday after our Home Depot trip, I assisted Mr. H in installing new light fixtures in the master bathroom. I'm ready to take a break from projects, so here I am.
That is some nice fiddling.

Good morning all. Well, afternoon at this point. Been a while since I spoke, so figured I should pop in and check in on everyone. Read back through a lot of the old posts while reminiscing about this place's creation and all that led to it. Interesting how life just goes on and finds a path to something new.
So, how is everyone?

Hi Cribbs. Doing fine here in tediously rainy Bristol. Hope you're well.

Doing great! Storm has passed and I suspect the last gasp of Old Man Winter is behind the front, should usher us in a few days of mild spring weather before the Florida heat kicks on until about late October.
