That was just exciting enough to be enjoyable. I watched Scheffler retake the lead before I went off to dinner with friends. I had to google up the final.

Have any of you ever been to Augusta National during Masters week?
I have.
As beautiful as it appears on TV, it is even more so in person.
Also, as difficult as the course appears on TV, it is even more so in person.

I have not been to Augusta but we did visit Pebble Beach and that course is magnificent in person as well. They let you walk around as long as you respect the golfers. Standing on the 18th tee, ocean on the left...oh my.

Pebble Beach and Augusta are nice courses, true, but you if haven't golfed Hiawatha on a fine spring day, with Martinfever, I might add, you have missed a truly wonderful golf experience.

I played Pebble a couple of times in 1986 when an Orthopedic club I was in met there. It was several weeks before the US Open was held there and they were letting the rough grow out to open specs.
If you were in the second cut the best you could do was hit a nine iron or wedge out into the fairway provided you could find your ball.
I remember Tiger hitting a 200+ yd seven iron out of the second cut to hit the green on number six in two at the 2000 open. One of the most amazing shots I’ve ever seen.

I’ve never played Pebble Beach. The green fees alone were $300 a head. But a business associate and I had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant there. That may have been $300 too but it covered both of us.
That must have been a few years after you were there. Probably early ‘90s. I think Clint Eastwood was still Mayor of Carmel.

There was a T-shirt in Carmel back in the day with that picture. The caption? "Curb your dog, by order of the mayor."

Thanks for the memory, epaul, it was a fun time. Hiawatha sparkled on that day and you and your bro were a blast!
