I like/dislike Facebook/Meta - but the only place I can find my friends
Some of my friends are there and I can't even email Some of this 'holians are private people - not emails or number
And few of my friends never write/read Facebook at all.
Some of this crap has happened from 2020 Pandemic ------
That's all I've got for now.......

I have been getting lots of pictures of voluptuous young women who want to be my friend. Youl should check out Threads, Meta’s offering to replace Twitter. I got porn bots follow me every day, showing me voluptuous young ladies in very scanty lingerie. I remarked to my wife, that if Meta can ban accounts as easily as they do over terms like “guns”, or other implied violence, why can’t they shut down random accounts that show me those kinds of pics? It’s not like they’re hard to spot. When I started on Threads, there were a few such irritations. I regularly clicked on the 'block' option for those sorts of accounts for a couple of weeks and they nearly all went away and have stayed away. Block early and often. It doesn’t take long to clear out the trash. For more control you can switch from the "For You" view to accounts you aree "Following". That might mean you miss seeing some fun and interesting stuff though. Happily, In the UK there are hardly any Political ads on Facebook, TV and radio, newspapers or elsewhere. When an election is a month or two away, there is a bit of an uptick, not much though.

I forgot to add, I always look at Facebook in chronological order (most recent first) rather than the order they want to show it to me. www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chrthe "?=h_chr" is the part that tells FB you don't want to follow their algorithm.

Sometimes, when trying to locate a Web page for a business, I discover that their only online presence is on FB. My reaction is to avoid that business.

I loved Howard’s response but it disappeared before I could quote it.

I thought better of it because I know we have friends who use and frequent FB. Just because I ditched my account in 2011 doesn't give me the right to spoil others' social media experience. 🙂

Howard - "the right to spoil others' social media experience"
my thoughts....
I haven't been there for a long time but sometimes I come FB/Meta because the only place I find my friends....
.....social media listening and monitoring solutions support brand monitoring, brand-mention tracking and data collection regarding consumer trends and preferences.... based on this information, you can provide more personalized service to your customers to enhance their experiences......
.....the causes of social media addiction include addictiveness, stress and self-esteem, and social anxiety.......these factors drive a person to continue with the excessive use of social media to clear out unpleasant feelings..........

A couple of women I’m friend with get several a day, and block them. It doesn’t help. They keep coming.

Maybe my very limited posting habits have insulated me from the attentions of the scantily clad, flirty women. At least it's not twitter loonies.

It wasn't meant to be taken personally. I just meant that what I think about FB should have no bearing on how others conduct their online experience.
I ditched because I didn't agree with FB's privacy policies (not that it matters much all these years later, when so much of our PII is floating all over the ether) and I had also read an exposé about Mark Zuckerberg in The New Yorker and decided that the guy's moral compass is not pointing due north and he doesn't care a hang about any of his millions of subscribers, and also because during my short tenure on FB, I was inundated with friend invites from people who wrote greetings like, "haven't seen you for forty years!" I suppose it did not occur to them there was a reason for that.
Anyway, carry on.

FB lets me watch weekly performances by Pizzarelli, Laurence Juber, David Grier, and others. I keep up with a couple musician friends using it. Other than watching the live performances, I find I am on it very little. I stay far away from Messenger although a sister, whom I have told dozens of times not to send me stuff that way, continues to send photos and other junk to me using it.
I am not interested in having 500 FB friends or in reading your latest blog on rose bushes. I doubt the IQ quizzes will actually show my IQ is 145(seems low, anyway).
I look at a few of the pictures some people put up but I don’t really put up photos myself.
And I honestly don’t care what anyone is having for dinner, have no interest in seeing pictures of the potatoes, or knowing someone just sat down in Iggy’s Bar & Grill to have a famous Iggy Burger. I don’t want anyone to call me and tell me about dinner so why would I want to read about it?
Vacation photos are nice because they give us ideas about places we could go.
I guess FB serves a purpose even though it isn’t much of one.

Actually, it was a punchline from a joke, that starts with a general comment like, "Some people think everything is about them."

Optimized version of the joke:
"Ever notice how some people take everything personally?"
"I do not!"

Optimized version of the joke: "Ever notice how some people take everything personally?" "I do not!" It's much funnier when told by someone who actually remembers the joke, and not just the general concept ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
