And how come the saddle isn't parallel to the front edge of the bridge?

I know, it is a soundhole allignment device. If, while playing the guitar, the picking hand drifts too far away from the soundhole, it signals the guitar to accent the high end and mute the low end so that it sounds like a Taylor.
