How old is that article? I wonder if anyone (NY included) is still using a FRAP. There area an awful lot of pretty good amplification options out there. FRAP is pretty old technology. (As is Neil Young, I guess. And the same thing could be said about me.) His "Live at Massie Hall" recording is my everyday office 300 disc changer. Just found this from the September 2006 Tonequest Reprt article on Larry Cragg: "I was a FRAP (flat response acoustic pickup) guy for years and years and I came up with the concept of stereo Fraps underneath the bridge plate beneath the top in his guitars. We first did that in 1978 for the Out of the Blue into the Black tour and it was wireless at that point. That’s his sound, and if you’ve ever heard him live with an acoustic it’s an amazing sound. That was my invention, but I’m not the guy who came up with FRAPs – Arnie Lazarus did, and he’s kind of gone out of business, so I resurrected them and I’ve put them in a lot of people’s guitars. He initially recommended that you mount a single FRAP way down below the bridge near the X brace and it sounded terrible. I came up with installing them closer to the bridge saddle and I have a special way of balancing them." For the complete article go here: www.tonequest.com/pdf_pubs/samples/TQRSep06_Proof.pdf
