Well, here I is, babysitting an upgrade to my database server - so I get to start one of these. Merry Thursday, everyone! The only problem is, I can't play my guitar while I'm waiting, as I'll wake up the family, and they'll get all pissy and grumpy. Then I get to go back to bed, and sleep in. What a concept. Bet I'll make it all the way to 6:30 or so..... So, let's see .... Obama sucks... or is it that Clintons an idjit... or McCain is a turd .... or Bush is a toad ... or.... I dunno.... hell, I don't know how I'm feeling about all of them today. It's 2:00 AM, and I'm confuzed.... But it's going to get nice this weekend. Up to 30 celsius here on the coast. Me and Doug'll be lying in the yard, plucking and sucking up the sun.

Shoot, I thought I'd be up first for a change. In fact, I haven't been to bed yet (at 5:40 local time), after spending about 11 hours helping my wife pack her office for the department's move to a new building. Deadline is today, because next week they seal the place up for asbestos removal, and the movers need to be in and out before then. She's been in that building for 31 years and that particular office for at least twelve, and we filled fifty or sixty boxes of books and files and class notes and old exams and department memos, labelled everything and mothballed her computer and crawled home on our hands and knees. (And unlike most of our neighbors, we were cold stone sober when we did it.) We did get to hear the birdies greet the sunrise, though.

I leave for my first summer show (East Lansing) tomorrow. Pack the van today. Nice weather to do it, but it sounds like a lousy weekend weather.

A little rain here in nothheast PA, fortunately nothing like Baton Rouge got. It's birthday number (oh I forgot, it's a secret,) for Rosemarie today. I got her a ring, (a second wedding band sort of ring,) with small diamonds and saphires alternating accross the top. She's gone to work now, and I have to get the girls up for school, so I guess I'll just say; Have a musical day everyone! Bob

Mornin'..... This time of the year, the kids are all doing their annual class field trips. My 7 year old Carrie does hers today so I have the whole day to myself. I have a yard to mow, a camper to work on and get ready for the weekend, phone calls to make, a guitar to play, supper to make, practice with duo. Always a load or two of laundry. What to do first? Coffee.

Good morning. Much cooler today as we had a cold front go through yesterday. I had to fly to San Angelo and back yesterday for medical and went through this front two times. It was maybe the roughest ride I have ever been on on an airplane. I couldn't even hold the book I was reading steady enough to read.
Years ago I went through a civilian flight school and was a pilot of sorts so this kind of stuff doesn't frighten me, it just make me miserable. I went to bed early last night.
My mandolin is ready to be picked up so I shall get it today. The tech said it's another instrument, plays like ..... it's a lot easier to play.

Millring, there certainly will be time for a side trip to Elderly Music. Or is the art show simply a ruse to do the important business of checking out some nice stringed instruments?
Grand Rapids is gorgeous this morning if a little cold. The town is coming down from the buzz of being, for a brief moment, the center of the action for the Obama campaign.

Last night in this current home. We had to keep the cats in last night or they'd get left behind, and they pretty much kept me awake all night. The vet's office (for boarding) opens in fiftyeight minutes. Moving should be fun, temp in the 90s, and no sleep! We'll be in the house we bought a year ago to extensively remodel for all of us (the fambly plus dear ole dad and his caregivers) to move into, AFTER the work was finished. At least MLB Extra Innings will be operational after 4 today. Well, the remodeling didn't work out for a number of reasons - so we'll be selling the current one, hopefully use the proceeds to invest in some mixed use or commercial piece, and also a few upgrades on the mostly untouched 1947 house. Where the hell is my coffee? Watched August Rush last night - nice little movie.

Congratulations, Steve. That's a nice way to start back in. You now know that you have what it takes to excel at this.
And don't even stop to consider that it only takes one B to forever screw up a 4.0.

Grand Rapids is gorgeous this morning if a little cold. The town is coming down from the buzz of being, for a brief moment, the center of the action for the Obama campaign. Pretty transparent, eh? I actually don't do that well at East Lansing anymore. But I continue to do the show because I get a trip to Elderly's and the music at the art festival is always fabulous (the duhks, eddie from ohio, laurie lewis, tom paxton, peter ostroushko....acts like that). I was going to buy a mandolin tomorrow. I got Ariel $payed instead.
