It would have been even more cool if they had just told him privately that an anonymous donor had wanted him to have the guitar and not bragged about it publicly.

They are a hell of a band, good looking and awesome players.
I love Jack’s banjo style.
Wonder if they would all be as successful if they had the same chops and personalities but were fat and ugly with zits? I’d still like em.

20’s today. Mulched leaves for the fourth time yesterday as the wind was gusting to 35 and finally from the right direction so that everything blew towards my neighbor’s yard. Wintery week beckons.
Watched the new German production of All Quiet On The Western Front on Netflix. In German with subtitles. Very well done! Parallels to current events are hard to ignore.

Some interesting thoughts John and a good poem that rings true.
But - -
If mega churches quit being entertainment venues what will happen to all the Godless professional musicians they hired for their praise bands?

I am almost 78 work out regularly and am in pretty good health except for the usual age related deterioration of various facilities. I would not consider myself even remotely qualified for the rigors of higher political office.
Let’s hope in two years we don’t have to make a decision between two geriatric geezers for President.

Niels Bohr's escape from Denmark was well covered in one of the books. Hair raising. The resistance fighters were brave folks. He eventually was flown out in an RAF Mosquito I think and was stowed in the bomb bay where he passed out from hypoxia. Didn't seem to have hurt his brain.

My dad’s brother Donald used to tell a story about when a senatorial candidate was visiting the Indian reservation and in his speech made promise after promise about what he would do for them if re-elected.
After each one the crowd excitedly screamed “ugalamug!!!” In unison.
After the speech the senator flush with the enthusiasm of those gathered was walking back to his car near the horse barn when the Chief remarked “be careful you don’t step in the ugalamug senator.”

This incident made me think of a patient I had as an intern at the county hospital in Omaha. These two skid row alcoholics were rooming together and had an apparent misunderstanding.
One hit the other on the head multiple times with a ball peen hammer while he was passed out. He was bald and had multiple depressed skull fractures the exact size of the hammer. His head looked like a golf ball.
He lived a few days on the vent but ultimately expired.
In another similar incident at Hennepin County General a drunk hammered a big framing nail all the way into the skull of his buddy. It went exactly between the two lobes of the guy’s brain and there was no neurological deficit.
The X-ray got shown around a lot, it was impressive.

Never crossed my mind. No problems with those that have them though.
A friend's daughter married a tattoo artist. Now she is the tattooed lady.

I forgot to mention that our Denver kids sent the dog out on his own last night. Sounds like he did quite well. I mean who could resist?
