Thursday will be our last "move-in" day. With our last kid in her last year of college we've done this ten times now so it's pretty routine. The only thing I'm sad about is having to tote all the furniture on a 90-degree day. Of course in the spring when Kathy graduates I am anxious about where she's going to end up--I'm sure she doesn't want to spend the year after college living at home (as her brother ended up doing this past year when it was nearly impossible to get started in a full time job).
Granted she's less than an hour away and we'll see her plenty.

I don't know what to say, Tbob, other than I can see it coming. My eldest, and only daughter, is a junior in high school this year. We are making plans to visit colleges. She has already informed us that Auburn is not in the picture, so I know she'll be leaving the house.
Hang in there. Our job as parents is to get them ready to move on, I guess.

It's rough. Our oldest, we only met the summer she finished high school. Fell in love with her so much, it hurt when she went away that fall - Susan went with her to help her get settled. Then the little bugger was coy and wouldn't phone. But she's finished second year now, has been back a bunch, and is doing well - we talk to her every week or two. Very proud of her, after her start in life - and we still have an 11 and 13 year old.
When they all go.... oh, my, it's going to hurt. A full house is a happy house.
