Andy -- Such great news! Was the new lad named, perchance, after Great Britain's 1988 Olympic star, Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards? ?

Congrats, Andrew! Just so long as they didn't name him after that famous electric guitar-playing Eddie, that's a great name. Best of luck spoiling him rotten!

I find it the difference between how men and women announce births of children and grandchildren amusing. And that is no slam against either gender.
When we hear a birth announcement from a female, the babies, length, down to the millimeter is stated, along with weight and head circumference. I wonder why they don't displace them in water to find their volume.
When we hear a birth anouncement from a male, it's just "It's a boy" or "it's a girl".
Aren't we humans odd.
Congratulations again, Andrew.

Maybe it's a southern thing, VI, but down here men take a big sense of pride in how big their children and grandchildren are at birth, and are sure to tell everyone. It was a little different for me; Now I get to brag about my 2 year-old son being off the charts growthwise (3'2", 35 lbs), after starting life 10 weeks early at 4.5 lbs and 17 inches. :-)
I think the women talk about size out of the sense of pride that they were able to push something that large out of their body and live to tell about it.
