I have 2 formal offer letters, both accepted. Both are credit/debit card, etc. processors.
I initially leaning toward HarborTouch, located in Allentown, PA(A-) with a smaller (11.5K) annual salary due to a slightly better reputation in the industry, plus A- had full benefits and the other, AdvoPay, based in Fisher, IN, close to Indy I think, (B+), just had a small benefits allowance, based on group rates, which is wildly unrealistic if you have to buy privately.
However, the hiring process and professionalism of company B+ far outshone company A-. With A-, I only spoke to the corporate recruiter, not to the hiring manager or my direct supervisor, or anyone else, leading me to believe that they were looking for someone with industry experience, but mostly just a pulse. With B+, within two days, I spoke with the internal recruiter thrice, the hiring manager twice, who will also my supervisor, and the CEO called me twice, and the manner in which he presented the company's position and culture & answered my questions was quite professional and insightful. Plus he made the package even better by offering me full benefits. The CEO will come here a few times to work and hang out with me in the first 3 months, hmmm, Indy vs. SF, let me think... unless you're Peyton.
So I am accepting B+'s offer. (Actually, I accepted both, in case something goes sideways with either company.) It's been a long long dry spell without any significant work, just short gigs with UPS and Macy's, two years exactly.
I guess I'll put off re-locating to Central or South America for a while. Now my goal is to get VISA and AMEX off my back.
YIPPEE!
