Home repairs are almost done. Only thing left is to finish the painting and cement down a few edge shingles. Should all get done today if the arrogant painting subcontractor shows up like he's supposed to. Mr. H had a run-in with him because the guy claimed that running the sprayer one way and then the other counts as the 2 coats that are specifically called out in our contract. The foreman from the prime contractor backed up Mr. H. (Well, duh.)
Other than this one guy who is not an employee of the contractor that we hired, things have gone really well.
Finally got my Gibson restrung yesterday. I haven't played it for a while because I couldn't stand the dead sound. I need to get reacquainted with it today.

Good Morning again.
Thanks for the date correction, Doug.
Best outcome, Chilibill!
Happy Anniversary, Bruce! 42 is impressive.
1956 - Richard Farina, folk singer (Reflections in a Crystal Wind) Richard Farina born 3/8/37. Died 4/30/66. On a celebratory motorcycle ride (he was a passenger!) - Mimi's 21st birthday and/or his book published just two days before, Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me, I think. It was a good read at the time. Wonder if it will stand the test of time? I've got it somewhere...

I'm dismayed at the level of customer service in a tight economy. Don't these people want to eat? Sheesh.

There are more activities today commemorating the B.B. (Big Bargain) at the Old State Capitol. Ironically, Baton Rouge and points east, north of Lake Pontchartrain, were not part of the BB, being part of Spanish West Florida at the time. Baton Rouge was its westernmost point.
The locals so chafed under Spanish rule that they revolted in 1810 and established the Republic of West Florida. Three months later they joined the Union and the rest of Louisiana. However its national flag (blue background with a lone, white star) is frequently seen on houses and public buildings in the area.

Sure, they want to eat and be highly paid, they just don't want to work. I've had guys like that. More than I'd care to remember. But the guy I have now is terrific. He works hard, gives me great advice, and pays attention to details I might not even notice. Excellent workmanship seems to be a matter of pride with him. Oh, and he's fast to boot. High hopes for Chili and congratulations for the MacNeill's.
