Don't stop there. What about The Odd Couple, Starsky and Hutch, Cagney and Lacey, and Batman? Not to mention every Western hero or cop who had a "sidekick"--clearly a coded term for a deviant relationship

I couldn't make it all the way through the article, but it seemed the author was arousing himself about midway.

And one shudders to think what the Marx brothers were really up to--in vaudeville there were five of them!
On a less serious note, he certainly nails the family-values angle of Gunsmoke--the marshal's relationship with Miss Kitty is probably monogamous, at least on his side. (Though one does wonder about Chester.)
And he's certainly on the money in identifying the "different tact" of Gilligan's Island--the producers were very tactful in dealing with what must have been the seething cauldron of sexual frustration on the island. And the Skipper's role as paterfamilias in the tradition of Bill Bendix's Chester A. Riley shows a deep knowledge of television history (to say nothing of Anglophone theatre). Inspired.
One does wonder about the "hello, Sailor!" passages, though, especially coming from a "Motivational Children's Party Entertainer."

I have corresponded with Stephenson at some length over the years. His knowledge of antique soda bottle collecting is most impressive.

I'm not sure what to do with satire that is indistinguishable from actual crazy.
But then, I never knew what to do with Andy Kaufman, either. Certainly nothing that might include being in the same room with him.

I think the Internet is trying to write poetry. When I went to clean out my account's spam filter, I found this embedded in the 80 message headers. I had to omit some of the obvious errors, but I believe this is probably publishable, at least in an on-line poetry magazine:

I couldn't make it all the way through the article, but it seemed the author was arousing himself about midway. +1 This article had a very strong whiff of homoerotic fantasizing. Sorry, I never saw all this subtext. I just thought it was a funny silly show. This article kinds of ruins it.

By any chance, has this guy ever seen any of the original Wonder Woman comic books? The ones where WW usually ends up getting tied up and spanked by another female?
And he's wondering about Gilligan's Island?
