Good morning. Sleepless at Swan Jam Central. Sitting here at about 3 this morning working on a mask in Photoshop, Ms. Morgan trotted down the stairs and sat staring at me. She didn't want to go out - she didn't want to be petted. She just sat and stared. She wanted me to go to bed. When I packed up and headed upstairs she came with me and heaved herself down on the end of the bed, going back to sleep. A poodle's work is never done it seems.

Good morning. The last of the guests left yesterday evening. Then we pulled them out of a snowbank down the road and they were off again.

Good morning. It's back to normality. Guests gone. Friends Joe and Peter came over for our weekly coffee in the backyard session yesterday. Now it's back to work. Yesterday I couldn't head far afield because of our houseguests, but when it looked like it might be a good sunrise I headed for the nearby canal.  |

Monday. Sunny, not too cold, but the concrete patches I placed yesterday aren't setting up.
Trying to cram in some billable hours on the free-lance gig before payday on Thursday.

Kind of fun and quite exciting time for us. We've been approved for our new apartment and we're probably going down for another visit today before we ultimately commit. The artist Mort Kunstler makes his living with researched painting of the Civil War. No matter that to many tastes he might be the antique second coming of the Painter of Light, he does do a lot of pictures of our hometown (it changed hands 70 times during the Civil War and contains bunches of history). So he's done these great pictures of the local towns as they appeared during that time. This is one of them. Stonewall Jackson riding into Winchester's downtown circa 1862 I think. On the right is the hotel we're moving into. Built in 1847, it served as a central fixture (command post, barracks, etc.) throughout the war.  We'll be taking pictures if we can get in today and if I can get anything interesting I'll try to share the view off our deck, etc. So freakin' cool. |

We are back from having spent the Thanksgiving week in San Diego. Great fun and good weather. San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, Seaworld, and my favorite, the USS Midway aircraft carrier. Ate dinner in restaurants in Old Town and Little Italy. Nice time all the way around.
