Open mic tonight. Everyone will be watching the game. I'll even be able to see it on the TV behind the bar while I'm playing.

This reminds me of 2001 ... Arizona came home down 2, blew the Yankees out in game 6. Game 7 was a close one ... the difference was ace Randy Johnson playing a crucial role in relief, just as Baumgarner is set up to do.

Bottom of the ninth, one run game, two outs, tying run on third.
Baseball is amazing.

Baumgarner was a joy to watch, no matter who you were rooting for. What a game.

I've never stood in the box to face a real pitcher, just a kid in a sandlot who threw the ball toward the "plate" and hoped for the best. But I find it interesting that at that level of play, a guy like Bumgarner can so completely baffle good hitters. He was pretty amazing. You could see it in the Kansas City dugout late in the game that they had lost their confidence and that the game was practically over. Great series! Fun baseball. Wrong winner :-) Well done Giants!

I'll bet the SF center fielder and left fielder are pretty relieved about the last out. As it is, they almost gave up an inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs that would have tied the game. Could have changed the outcome of history.
**Phew !**
(Looked like a Little League game)

I bet the KC third base coach didn't sleep very well last night.

I bet the KC third base coach didn't sleep very well last night. That's a good point. Tough to make that kind of split-second decision, but as well as Baumgarner was throwing, it might have been worth the risk to run for home. Baseball's answer to the Hail Mary pass.

Made more excruciating by the failure in having done it more by the book.

I was thinking the same thing. Hard to run all the "risk/benefit" calculations in real time, but from an armchair manager perspective, their best shot at getting the tying run was probably to send him around and take their chances on a play at the plate. The other decision I question was when they bunted after they got a hit off of Bumgarner. You don't give pitchers like that free outs.
