A very wet Thursday here. Heavy rain warning, and it's pounding down. I have lots to be thankful for but it's not Thanksgiving here. Enjoy folks.

Made pumpkin pie and cooked the wild rice for stuffing yesterday. Still have about two hours before the rest of the dinner prep starts. Unfortunately, Mr. H has a cold and his two wisdom teeth are acting up. The little buggers don't come out until 12/9, unless we can get him in sooner. I'm being quiet so he can sleep in. It will be just the two of us this Thanksgiving, so he doesn't even have to be sociable.
These are not major problems and we both have lots to be thankful for. That includes today's gorgeous sunny weather.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. And to all I say, "Gobble, gobble, gobble." In every sense of the word. Yes, what Marshall said. We're going to my wife's cousins out on Lawn Guyland for another surreal Thanksgiving dinner. And we're going by rail.

Yikes, it's 2 below zero here -- and this is still November??? Oh, well, at least it's sunny and pretty out there with a couple inches of new white fluff. Leaving shortly to pick up the strawberry/rhubarb pie from Key's Café, then it's on to West Sconsin and to pick up my dad, who I have not seen in a month. Maybe he will recognize me this time, but with my new white 'stache, who knows?
Dinner at my sister's will be mostly traditional and there should be about a dozen folks gathered. We'll wrap Dad in a blanket and shovel food into him.
Hope everyone has a fine day -- I am thankful for you all.

I know it's early, but it is after midnight here. Made it to Duluth safe and sound, deposited the 11 pound turkey in the downstairs fridge. Patti's vegan daughter is video tapping a program about some naturalist who is bonding with turkeys, and not in the "oh, you're gonna be a tray treat tomorrow" sort of way. Now he's hugging them and learning their language. It's gonna be a surreal day. If it's the same one that was airing last year, there's a surprise ending -- the last remaining turkey tries to kill the guy.

I did make it to the end of the documentary and saw Turkeyboy turn red and attack the human. I somehow feel much better this morning.

SIL and I just got back from the Sunapee 5K Turkey Trot. Gorgeous day and they were able to scrape the vast majority of the 14" off the roads before the event start. House full of grandkids, inlaws and Maureen and I. Full of turkey and fireplace aromas. Christmas present opening a little later as Maureen tomorrow is heading to Chanai (Madras) for a month of meditation. Will miss her, but that's tomorrow, today is family and holiday cheer.

Yesterday... My first solo mini concert at my old rehab... four pieces classical Bach, Chopin, Schumann, Beethoven. Today, I am dining afternoon at Mill Valley with my son and the ex. Happy Thanksgiving! I am lucky.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I've got plenty to be thankful for. If I had to narrow it down, probably the top of my list was this day in July: Yes, we're standing in a waterfall, just after my immediate family officially grew by three people.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. It's a white Thanksgiving here in the Milwaukee area. Not quite the "over the river and through the woods" stuff but enough that we could use a few 80 degree days. I'm thankful for a lot of stuff this year. Life, despite it's ups and downs, keeps getting better.

Mayhem at the house. The turkey is in the oven, and I disassembled the garbage disposal to clear a clog already. I had to add a gentle reminder to "turn it one every now and again instead of waiting until the sink was full of stuff." Have a good one.

Thankful for all of you in my life. The bird is on the grill, covered with brown sugar and Spanish paprika. I'll be batting with the juices and apple cider.

Home again, home again, nice gathering in Eau Claire, although my niece FORGOT THE WINE and they were like 30 miles from home when she remembered. Fortunately, I brought along a nice bottle of Spanish sparkling rose, and it went really well with the turkey.
I totally forgot about my no-starch regimen and dug into potatoes, stuffing, homemade rolls. It was decadent, and fun, but I don't think I'll have much problem with going back to the routine.
Dad was confused as hell, had no idea who anyone was, really, although I think he finally believed that I was his son Bill at the end of the day. On a more positive note, he ate a TON and everyone seemed to have a great time.
p.s. Heartwarming storytelling, Mister Millring. Love ya, man.

We too are home again. We didn't have to go as far as Bill. First time I"ve ever had Thanksgiving dinner at a bar. The bar I did the Taco Tuesday gig for provided free dinner for anyone who came in. Older single people and couples who's kids were too far away. Good dinner, standard T day menu. We had planned to go out for dinner anyway and free was nice and the food was as good or better than we would have had somewhere else. I was a good little boy and didn't over eat.
Talked to the baby, and called the other two who weren't home. Talked to my brother, it was fun to pick on him with us and 85 and Orlando at 65, Chris had a nice chat with her sister. Being a long way from folks is one of the problems with moving to where the weather suits your clothes. But then none of my brothers kids were at his house and none of my SIL's kids were home.
Sounds like you had a good day, Bill.
