That's my take too, Bruce. Just more expense more often.
I've already got that situation in our Cedar Rapids place. It was built with low voltage switches everywhere. Now I either have to upgrade all the wall buttons and the circuit switches at the fuse box or replace all the wiring with 120v to the switches. Not fun.

A water heater either works or it doesn't. How much interaction do I need with it?

C'mon McCoy, get with the program. With the new water heaters you can establish a relationship with it. It will get to know your moods, give you someone to talk to when the walls close in.

Get the wifi water heater, it'll save you tons of money in the long run. I just called my father in Florida on my water heater. It's one of the old ones with 3G and it cost me a bundle. Wifi would have been much better.
