Was just wondering the same thing. His most previous login was Sept. 30.

I know we were expecting this but that knowledge didn't prepare me somehow. It was wonderful to have met you and played a few tunes together Mr. Thaxter. Till we meet again, sir.

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like he had a lot of loving friends and family in his life.

Such sad news.
Like Mark said, just because we all knew this was coming doesn't mean it's any easier to take.
RIP, Mr. Thaxter.

Very sad. It was an honor to meet the guy. He was so well liked by anyone that I knew that knew him, and that's quite a group of people. Rest in peace, Dick, a peace you very much deserve.

Sigh. I feel so blessed to have spent pleasant time with Dick and Lidia mere weeks ago, such lovely people. God bless all.

My condolences to the entire Thaxter family. I am sure his grandkids will grow up knowing what a wonderful man their grandfather was.
In addition to the fond memories of his family and his many musical friends, musicians of our generation and musicians not yet born owe a debt of gratitude for Dick's life work at the Library of Congress.

Uggh. I have been away from here for quite a while, but I too share the grief of this loss. I had only interacted Dick a couple times and was following his stats mostly on Facebook. He seemed like such a decent man who was dealing with these circumstances as best as anyone could expect. One thing for sure we will all meet again in ur next lives. And our guitars will all stay in tune in. Peace to the Thaxter family.

I wish our paths had crossed. This picture was posted on Facebook. Posted with this lyric "Oh the tree of life is growing Where the spirit never dies And the bright light of salvation Shines in dark and empty skies When the cities are on fire When the burning flesh of men Just remember that death is not the end." -Bob Dylan Rest in peace, Pop-Pop Dick Thaxter. That picture captures one of those things I always found endearing about Dick. He always seemed to have that half-cocked, half-smile on his face. To look at him you couldn't help but get the feeling that he was constantly reflecting on the pure absurdity of everything.
