Good morning.
Besides getting groceries I wasted yesterday so I should do something useful today. I went to get my fake nails back-filled yesterday but there was a waiting line so I'll go back at opening time today and try again. Past that I should mix up some weed killer and get it on the driveway before I can't find the driveway. I should get the pressure washer set up and hopefully working and do the bird cages too but that's a real pain in the butt since they haven't been done since fall. Mary had a rough night allergy-wise so she's sleeping now and I'll have to stay quiet until she gets up. That's a good excuse not to start doing anything yet anyway.
Happy Thursday.

Back to the ancestral home this morning to let the glazier replace the two broken storm windows he has repaired. Tomorrow afternoon my painter will come to begin removing heavy vinyl wallpaper from kitchen and upstairs bath, then begin scraping, skim-coating, and plastering over the weekend (he moonlights after his union work).
Then, floor refinishing, some new carpet here and there, and an engineer inspection. On and on.

I'm at the car dealership now to get the car fixed, and I have a dentist appointment at 11. All I need is a call from the IRS to make this day complete.

Chemo day... If it's like the last infusion it won't be very troublesome, but each one has its own little quirks. I am comforted in knowing that once I'm there they won't drag me out of my seat.

Good morning! I hate mornings (actually, mornings--and the earlier, the better--one of my favorite times of the day) Out with the dog twice today (no pool, off day). Set up my main computer & printer, and have to get going on some things I've been avoiding (including US taxes). Younger daughter, after being home since 3/31, leaves tomorrow for a lab job in evanston (something about grinding up flies (drosophila) for their RNA), older one left a week ago.

Morning. Gus put in a new router yesterday. The irritating drops and slow re-connects are, so far, knock on wood and antennaed plastic, not showing up.

Good luck, Lonnie.
Howard, you should film what is being done. You might be able to sell it all to HGTV as a new fixer-upper show. This could be your new career. I could be your zany sidekick and handle the light-hearted moments of the show. You know, breaking into the wrong wall, knocking out the lights, breaking windows with ladders that are too long, etc.
Gently raining here.
Have a good day, all.

OH NOOOOO - Friday the 13th falls on a Thursday this month!!!!
drizzly right now, but one never knows how it will be in an hour or so when I walk the dog. Working on the truck today, fixing a number of annoying small problems that I can't justify paying the shop fee for someone else to do ($110 to change the spark plugs just seems a little high...but it's been soooo long since I gapped a plug,,,hope I can still find the little doohickie that measures that). And who knew the heater/AC fan control was just a bunch of resistors mounted on the firewall - I've been suffering with only 'high' fan speed control for years, but for $14 and some skinned knuckles I'll have a low speed fan again. The rear tail light may be a bigger problem, there may be body work involved, but I've got my hammer and pry-bar ready.
have a safe day y'all.

Garage door spring sprung a couple of days ago. Sounded like a bomb going off in the garage. had a service guy come by yesterday and fix it. Replaced some rusted parts too. Said they only last about 10 years. He was surprised when I told him the doors were 17 years old. had him replace the other spring and some rusted parts.
Very nice conscientious guy. Didn't gouge me. Wasn't pumping for extras. did the work quietly and nice. Even fixed an electric button operator that didn't work. His name was Abdul. Had an accent like an Iranian guy that worked for me about 30 years ago. So, he's probably from that neck of the woods.
Good guy. Good work. I'd recommend him. Didn't see any explosives in the truck.

Mornin'.....
Just hanging out doing the usual morning chores like kitchen cleanup, shower, make grocery list, run errands. Not in a huge hurry as I'm still waiting to hear results of yesterday's ultrasound.
59º, overcast, chance of thunderstorms and occasional heavy rain. High of 66º. At least I managed to finish the installation of the grass catcher and got the back yard done. Let the rains come. Can't mow anywhere else until some serious raking and limb gathering happens.

A routine notice from our parish that I find moving.
Today is Maundy Thursday, so-named because of the Latin word for commandment (mandatum). "I give you a new commandment, that you love one another." Perhaps more than any other, our worship tonight draws us into God's love. We commemorate the footwashing and the final meal of Jesus with his friends (according to Matthew, Mark and Luke - the Jewish Passover meal). Here among his inner circle, one of whom was to betray him, he made his final farewells and went out into the night to wrestle in prayer and to face death. Our worship begins at 7.30 pm in the Parish Hall and concludes in church with the Eucharist and the stripping of all ornamentation from church. A piece of consecrated bread remains on the altar as a focus for the Watch. Like the disciples in the garden, we watch and wait with Jesus but then flee, leaving Jesus alone in the darkness. Most of you will make it home by 9 pm, but church remains open until midnight for silent prayer and reflection.
