I don't know why I was so anxious. Maybe because now I'm a semi-professional. I've been playing for two years in two senior assisted homes & two rehabilition homes. Curiously...... actually I lived shortly in two rehabs after what I had my stroke. Thank you all. This thread helped me. Go get 'em Bob!!!

Bob, if you get a big pair of glasses we can call you Elton Bob. If you show up a Idiot Jam with a leggy blond model we can call you Billy Joe Bob. Mike

One interesting thing about recording my performances. (Just 2-5 song sets). I'll have a song where I make some GLARING flubs. And I'll think, "That went awful." Then I'l play it back afterwards and realize it was hardly noticeable. And it didn't destroy the performance.

When you play the retirement homes and you look out at the audience full of gray-haired old cranks, pretend you're at Idiotjam.

I don't think I'm anxious now. I went to the senior place. It's called Alma Via, San Rafael. It's a beautiful place. Actually I moved my dad. He had to be in this place. This place is about seven thousand..... a month. He was in dementia. All the residents... they're absolutely old. I played the piano it's a baby grand - Steinway. Almost everything is perfect. I played it for about an hour. I'm playing again on Saturday. I can't do this pictures in Photobucket to this forum. I can probably put it on Facebook.
Ciao

I've been practicing. Sometimes my notes are a blank. I'm pretty sure it'll probably screw up a few times. I guess we all revelers are old dementia people. I'll tell them it's Bach but it's really Beethoven Interestingly I read an article last week about how audiences percieve errors in music. Can't recall details or the actual article, but it went something like having 20 professional musicians listen to recital pieces by grad students and count errors. Of something like 360 errors, the reviewers identified about 20% of them. What's more only about 2 of the errors were identified by 7 of the reviewers. About 3 of them by 6. 2 by 5. Etc. And that was professional musicians, many of whom had played or recorded the pieces themselves. Good news- audiences are a lot like my mom. If I don't crap myself on stage she has no idea I made a mistake. And if I do crap myself, the odds she'll notice are about 1000 to 1. Besides, never play to the (potential) musicians in the audience. They're mostly assholes who don't like anything.

I was working on my sight reading for my exams and my teacher said, "The most important thing is to keep going and get caught up," instead of stopping and starting again. It's a hard habit to beat.
