Yay! Today I do not have to drive to Corvallis. Since ladt weds I've driven over 1500 miles, I'm done driving for a while.
Coffe with the old farts this am, and a beer latter with another old fart this pm.

Happy August. Normal local weather, upper 80s later but low 70s just now.
Been out on the back porch practicing some songs for tomorrow night, maybe. In no particular order:
Don't think twice The Last Thing On My Mind Ballad of the Yarmouth Castle Puff the Magic Dragon Leaving on a Jet Plane Don Quixote Miguel The Cats in the Cradle
Not a lot of barre chords needed and mostly on higher frets since my voice requires capo 3. I think I can do it.
Have a good day. My mother would have been 104 today but she only got to 82.

I remember one song in particular you did, about I think it was family, sailing ships. That was a great tune. Going to a concert for Vancouver Early Music society tonight. Bach, cello, most excellent goodness.

Sister from Portland took Mom to visit one of her high school friends in Long Beach, WA. so I'm dealing with a lonely Maggie, hopefully she wont figure another way out of the backyard. Hazy morning sky, but should be clear blue soon. Got some rough terrain to mow later
better days y'all

Good day from the Smokies, beautiful day here. I slept almost as long as I spent behind the wheel yesterday, man, did that feel good (the sleep, I mean). As did not having to roll out of bed to an alarm clock and know that I need to be at work in an hour or so.
I have the Mpls/St. Paul classical station dialed up on my laptop, so it's like being home in that regard, hearing the local weather and news amid all the fine music. The house blend coffee from the Holiday Inn lobby is excellent, I'm showered (but not shaved, hey I'm on vacation!) and doing a little trip planning with Google maps.
Tim Alexander is gonna try to finagle a one-day parking permit for me so I can drop in on Swannanoa on Thursday afternoon for a few hours of fellowship and guitar-passing.
Back home, folks are marking the 10-year anniversary of the I35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis, which killed 13 people. Meanwhile, a new St. Croix River bridge will open this week, just south of Radtkeville, a very cool structure, in my view. Life goes on. I'll hug and goof around with my grand-nugget tomoro, which so happens to be the date when my firstborn passed away 27 years ago.

Morning
86F/30C Sunny.
Grandsons coming by today, they will do the yard work and help me install the new dishwasher. Don't have time to start cutting string winder blanks, need to get some income repairs done first.
39 Days to IJ.

Hugs, Bill. Circle of life. (Sigh)
I am sitting in my neighbor friend's condo while a home inspector digs into nooks and crannies. What a nice young man! So refreshing to experience someone who is not only competent but also dedicated to his work! Fortunately he is not unearthing any significant issues!
Had a busy weekend including an all day lake day here with Dear Daughter and fam. Yesterday was a rest day for me! Today is another in a lovely string of stellar weather days so I should probably do some outdoor tasks.
Enjoy the day, Friends!

Oh, right, I must have been listing to port when I typed that! Here it is: Nice looking bridge. Cable stay seems to be the norm now. Your folks were intelligent enough to leave the towers on either side. It's cheaper to build a single tower in the center, which brings the cables together over the bridge deck. Which means when you get ice and snow accumulating on them, and then it thaws, you get ice bombs dropping onto the cars. That no one figured that yes, in Vancouver, we get days like that before building a bridge for 100s of millions, is pretty ridiculous. We now have devices that drop chain rings down them to knock off the frozen stuff before it falls off. Smashed a bunch of windshields first time through, they were lucky no one was killed. Here's the remedy. Quite ingenious, but requires a manual reset of the chains when they have all been dropped.

New meaning to the phrase my soup has a hair in it. I once had soup with a hare in it, but that is a bowl for another day. Nice day today. Be as cool as possible.

Short spans; conventional beam or truss. Intermediate spans: Cable stayed. Long spans: Suspension bridges (Think; Golden Gate).
