As I recall, Vince co-wrote that song with Guy Clark, and it references Vince's daughter Jenny. Thanks for pointing out the song, I love it. I'd heard it before but had forgotten it. Won't do it tonight, but it's going on the list.

Coffee, more coffee, a visit to the rec center and this evening it will be back to the open Mic at Stone City. Tonight we are going to do train songs, should be fun. Here's one of my faves in that genre (skip to :55 to hear the actual start of the song): Great arrangement. Freight Train at the end was a nice touch.

Typhoon is almost over. We've had 130mm of rain yesterday and thru the night, and wind was over 20m/s (44mph) for a couple hours in there. News from the other side:

If I'm doing my conversion correctly, you got 15 inches of rain, and twice that elsewhere? Wow. Is everyone OK? Is your house OK?

We're on the 'protected' sea-of-japan side--with mountains between here and the Pacific. 130mm is about 5 inches, and some places got 15 (and one place 30).
It's been a wet week, so with more on top of that there were some precautionary evacuations. Mud/landslides are the worry, flooding not so much.
And post typhoon weather is usually really nice.

[...] Wife has her big back surgery tomorrow morning. She is more than ready, it has been a brutal four months. Will keep you both in my thoughts. Hoping it goes swimmingly.

Here's one of my faves in that genre (skip to :55 to hear the actual start of the song): Well, here's a haunting song about "Trains." Not quite your typical train tune. Not for everybody. But I get mesmerized by it. Michael McDermott. That's his wife. They have a band, The Westies. He's a local guy. Or he was. He travels around a lot working the music scene. The bridge @2:50 into the song gets me every time. It takes the moody presence of the rest of the song to another level. The falsetto train whistles are particularly haunting (2:50 and the end @ 5;20 to 6:00). There's 2 songs in the clip. I don't know the second song.
