Yeah, it’s funny that conservatives thought it was a bad idea when Obama did it, but think it’s ok now....wait a minute, no, they don’t. Even Trump’s inner circle, which isn’t conservative by any metric other than party affiliation, thought it was a bad idea. Not because the Russian presidential election was rigged, but because they recently tried to rig an American presidential election, and even more recently, tried to assassinate an old spy of theirs on British soil. As is almost always the case, trying to find equivalence between Obama and Trump is a losing game.

"And Dubyah said he looked Putin in the eye and saw a man he could trust." His Secretary of State, Bob Gates, disagreed. He said that when he looked Putin in the eye he saw a stone-cold killer.

Well, I trust Mike, (and Tim It appears) for instance, to always say and do what I expect of him. Perhaps G.W.B. trusted Putin to always act like a stone-cold killer. You can't trust Trump to do what you'd expect.

Damn good thing Democrats don't have Super PACs. Well, trump has said the iraq war was a mistake, and then there's talk that he might pick bolton--a guy who was involved in that and still seems to think that the iraq war was a good idea--for his national security advisor? Maybe trump should also bring back hillary or kerry as secretary of state. I’m convinced Trump makes appointments based on their potential shock value. He either picks people that are wholly unqualified for their appointments (an oil exec for State), or who have been opponents of the mission of what they’re chosen to lead (too many to keep up with). I don’t think it’s at all strategic. I think he’s just flipping off the elite “establishment” that has, for decades, failed to love him. It’s the only campaign promise he has consistently kept; he’s definitely anti-establishment. And as long as you don’t expect anything good to be accomplished by that, he’s your guy.

There is no unifying theory that makes sense of anything having to do with Trump and Russia except that Putin has something on Trump. And it must be something pretty bad, the way Trump is coming out of his frame to shut down the investigation.

As is almost always the case, trying to find equivalence between Obama and Trump is a losing game. And that, of course, isn't what my linking was doing.

I watched the whole British Channel 4 TV expose of Cambridge Analytica. They're about as sinister as they come.
