Another rainy Monday here. I'm trying to not let it get me down.

Need to make a pharmacy run to refill a scrip for Mary. I'll try not to touch anything. So far, reports are it's still pretty clean around here but of course you can't tell really. We have a short list of groceries but it can wait 'til tomorrow as if that mattered.

I got through yesterday without doing much of anything and will try to get used to it. I'm certainly glad I'm retired and not "Essential personnel" anymore.

A slice-of-life shared from my friend, Mike Bose:

An old friend texted me the other day. He said he was at loose ends and ask if I was up for a visit. I told him to come on up, I will be in the pottery. He was here by 9:00 am.

This friend was an early adviser in Viet Nam. He lived in the villages and wore black pajamas to avoid attention. He was also an art professor at the University I attended a hundred years ago. And a firefighter until retirement, always practicing knots for vertical decents.

He arrived as I sat at my bench working. We talked about fishing. We talked about nothing really. I carved on my pot as he told me he'd given his deer rifle to his son in law. When he told me he'd given away his absurdly expensive fly fishing equipment as well. I told him he could go to hell for giving away fishing equipment. He laughed. We traded stories of our respective exposures in Nam. And our mutual affection for the university.

I learned his family had a history of dementia. He'd lost his brother a couple years ago to it and now it is his turn. It sucked.

At noon he stood up and thanked me for being here and left.

So yeah.

Good morning. It's already 61F, headed for 74F. I'll try to stay busy and enjoy the day.

Grocery shopping was a success, even got TP! Picked up my art work and made it safely home. I hear the coffee calling!

Three inches of snow on the ground. The robins are pissed. So am I, but less so.

The county has ordered us not to pay for the ferry, but to only make essential trips. So I'm going shopping for stuff i didn't get last week.

Just got off the phone with Stonebridge, the builders of our new house. The walk through is set for this Weds at 1:00 pm. So that’s good. If that goes well we can close the next day. Then we called the company we bought our new fridge from, to arrange delivery. Problem. They have not received it from GE, and It may be a while coming because of distribution problems due to the current crisis. So we might be using the rv fridge for quite a while. Sigh. And we are uncertain if the movers can come to move us in.

So when does the fun part of this crisis kick in? I suppose I should be happy we are still seemingly healthy, but....

Well, so much for easy duty. Spent the day tracking down Covid results and relaying them to the patients. I would think a piece of cake. Making the calls, logging and documenting everything is boring, frustrating work. Give me an MI or broken bone any day. Have not yet had to convey a positive test result. That'll change,

Hillbilly Weather man says you're getting some S.H.I.T. but at least you won't have to drive into work before it melts off.

Wife has stepped aside from work. Daughter has been ordered to work from home, I'm allowed to work from home. Thank goodness for home made chocolate chip cookies, with walnuts.

I like Wilmington. Of course, I've been there when there was something to do.
