Normally I would say that experiences are more important than things at my stage in life. Current conditions make experiences hard to pull off. Flowers and a nice brunch or dinner sound about right.

Normally I'd also prefer experiences to stuff but, as you say, that's a little tough right now. I'll definitely do all the cooking that day.

How about a small outdoor gathering in your back yard. Could be friends, church friends, neighbors, doesn't matter. Just giving her the chance to talk with someone besides you. With this whole Covid thing, she's tired of you. She wants to talk with someone else.

No, no. Impossible! Okay, it could be true.
Actually we've been doing some backyard gatherings. That afternoon, though, we'll be going to our daughter's house way across town, so that'll be our gathering.
