We've just heavily amended our setlist. We grew bored with some songs, and others just didn't resonate with the audiences we were playing for. So, here is what we've added and are working on. - Brown Eyed Girl (But you knew that old chestnut would eventually rear its head...) - Shine by Collective Soul - Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd - What I Got by Sublime - Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars And for personal consumption, I'm working on That's The Way by Zeppelin. It's a fairly easy one in open G, but it's a wonderful song. It's one of a few Zeppelin songs that seem outside their norm. Here's a version. Out of curiosity, what songs did you get rid of? - Dock of the Bay (Redding) - Black Water (Doobies) - Hey Hey What Can I Do (Zeppelin) - Shooting Star (Bad Company) - Even the Losers (Petty) - Wonder Wall (Oasis)

Working up a clawhammer banjo version of Doddie's Dream, the counter-earworm I posted a couple of weeks ago.

This is my latest. It is my first attempt at a studio style recording. Using GarageBand and iRealPro. I finished it a few weeks ago. This is Mike Dowling's arrangement of Lonnie Johnson's tune Tomorrow Night.

That's real nice, Paul.
I'm giving flatpicking a go for the first time. It felt like wielding a 2 x 4 at first, but slowing getting Shady Grove under control.
Always been a big Cockburn fan but had to look up King Kong. Tasty number ... No surprise there.

Freight Train with many frills and frantic picking. I started out ca. 1961 playing Freight Train much the way Elizabeth Cotten played it except I played it right-handed and played the melody notes with fingers instead of my thumb. Nowadays it’s more a thumbstyle tune for me and I put Wilson Rag in the middle of it the way Peggy Seeger did.

My group, Pieces of Malarkey has been on hiatus for a while for any number of reasons (frustration, unemployment, etc.) but I anticipate things will ease significantly in the New Year and I'll probably be back at it in time to play out once or twice this summer.

Put A Spell on You, Already Gone, I’m A Believer. Had a go at The Thrill Is Gone, but it’s in Bm, and it’s tiring playing that many barre chords.
