Hoosiers always love birthdays because they get a new pair of socks. The old pair is usually pretty worn out so they get washed and become part of a quilt. The new socks are white, of course, because that goes with everything.

Thanks. In Indiana if you tell your restaurant server it's your birthday you get an extra squirrel. Of course, if you've already ordered a two squirrel dinner, that extra one can be too much. But you can always take one home.

The first time I ever drove a car with a manual transmission was a '52 Chev, but nowhere near as nice as the one above. A girl who was in high school choir with me let me drive her beater around the huge E.C. Memorial parking lot. It had a very forgiving clutch and three-on-the-tree shifter.

Thanks all. Nancy's birthday was Monday, our anniversary yesterday, and my birthday today. Expect another grandchild tomorrow. Mid March is crowded.
(My Mom died on March 12, 2003. My late brother's birthday was March 13 and my father's birthday was March 15. Nothing happens in our family except in mid-March or about nine months before.)
