Saw one of these parked at the local supermarket the other day, and I liked its looks. I didn't know the brand was still alive.

Looks cool, but it’s a single cylinder engine. I expect it vibrates. Might be a nice around town agile thing. Wouldn’t think it’d be great at highway speeds. Don’t know how they are rated. Don’t think they compare well with Japanese engineering for comfort and reliability.

Don’t think they compare well with Japanese engineering for comfort and reliability. It's meant for around town driving, not freeway, only has 20 horsepower. Has balance shafts, so that tames vibration. Was named Motorcycle of the Year last year in India, where bikes are big. It's manufactured both in India and England, comes in under $5K.

I've taken a serious look at royal enfield the last few years. A buddy that rebuilds old motorcycles has friends in the industry that take apart new bikes for evaluation and claim that the only engines in the new bike industry that have absolutely no metal shavings or tooling marks on the inside straight from the factory are the royal enfields.
You can always go to this bike's bigger brother the interceptor 650.

The Meteor looks quite similar to my Yamaha Bolt. (Photo from last summer with the GS-Mini on the back and saddle bags) The Bolt is bigger being a 942 cc knock-off of the Harley Iron 883.

Honda still makes a CB350 Two cylinders. Yea, but they are not available in America. Whereas the place in Iowa City has all the models of the enfields in stock right now (including a 650 in orange crush).

My riding days are well in the past.
But, that Interceptor. The chrome tank option reminds me of a mid 60s BSA Lightning.

I love the old school look of the "Classic." I think it would be a nice in town and country road bike, but yes, not as reliable as the Japanese bikes. I had considered the Royal Enfield dual sport bike, called "The Himalayan" for my recent purchase. It was too heavy for my purposes, but that would probably make it better on the road.

Between August 1970 and August 1971, my Navy year in Iceland, my two best buddies bought and had shipped to our base a BSA just like the one above and a Triumph Bonneville like the one below. I seem to recall that at the time, they were mechanically identical, that may not be correct. I was so envious.

We’ll all this motorcycle porn and the unseasonably high temps made me roll out the Yammy Bolt and take a spin to and through the forest preserve this afternoon.
