What the hell does the Fire Marshal have to do with yard waste? He inspects for fire safety and fire safety alone. He's over stepping his bounds. When has that ever stopped a bureaucrat on a mission?

Morning all. Nice steady rain overnight. Again. The irrigation pipe has been out in the pastures for several weeks but no need. It's been a cool wet one here. They are having some serious problems over in the Gardiner area north of Yellowstone. Houses and bridges being washed away. HELENA, Mont. -- AP -- A torrent of rain combined with a rapidly melting snowpack caused a deluge of flooding that forced the evacuation of some parts of Yellowstone National Park, cutting off electricity and forcing park officials to close all entrances indefinitely, just as the summer tourist season was ramping up. While numerous homes and other structures were destroyed, there were no immediate reports of injuries. Yellowstone officials said they were assessing damage from the storms, which washed away bridges, caused mudslides and left small cities isolated, forcing evacuations by boat and helicopter. It's unclear how many visitors are stranded or have been forced to leave the park and how many people who live outside the park have been rescued and evacuated. Some of the worst damage happened in the northern part of the park and Yellowstone's gateway communities in southern Montana. National Park Service photos of northern Yellowstone showed a mudslide, washed out bridges and roads undercut by churning floodwaters of the Gardner and Lamar rivers. Incredible video of the damage -> Link

Good morning 72F-95F humid mostly sunny but it sure ain't sunny right now. Starting to not like our Fire Marshall. The grandsons cut back and/or removed a lot of the bordering yard plants and piled the material near the back of the yard to be taken to the yard waste center when they are done. The center charges per load so we want that load to be as big as what can be safely moved in one trip. The Fire Marshal wants the waste removed daily because the pile attracts mosquitos. The reason we are cutting the stuff back is because thick brush attracts mosquitos. ![>:D](//storage2.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png) I tried to explain to him about it and that I would have to rent a trailer to remove the stuff but he will have none of it. This must be done right away or the city will do it and charge me BIG bucks. Also he finally explained what room has" lack of escape", my office/spare bedroom. My computer desk blocks one window and we have things stored on the floor in front of the other window. All he had to do was be specific and the problem would have been resolved right away. So today I will rearrange that room so both windows are clear. I'm putting a small AC unit in there which will make one of those windows a non escape window. Rearranging the room is not a bad idea anyway as it will allow me to give it a good "going over" once things are moved. I don't think we have a Mosquito Marshal here.

That big brown building you see sliding in to the river is reportedly employee housing for Yellowstone Park. If so may be full of our doors as we've done several of those remodels over the years. I have a pending 100K Yellowstone employee housing job scheduled to start in about 6 weeks. I'm not sure whether they are going to call to cancel the order or double it.

All that snow that closed the west entrance over memorial day had to go somewhere.

I ran that through a Google translator and it said "Shit Happens". Just wanted to explain it for the Democrats here.

I'm alive and well. It was an interesting day. I spent the morning at the school I go to work for on 1 July. I spent the afternoon working to close out admin associated with my job with the Army. I'm sure I'll be happy in the new gig. I'm sure I'll miss my department here. The lovely Claire returns to the UK tomorrow. She was a bit teary-eyed this afternoon, and we'll miss her for sure. I'm 56 and I tear up every time I leave Mom's place. Claire comes by it honestly. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) She and her beau, Tom, will be back for Christmas, and I'll go over next spring. So it goes. Lastly, we have a VERY pregnant kitty in the house, and we're taking bets on when Rey Cat will hatch.

Bruce, I don't mind such comments. I would prefer to keep political stuff out of the daily thread, though.
