Windy but the heat wave has held off a day. Got my deck railing re-installed yesterday, always unexpected glitches but it came out great.
Lawn mowing day today and shop work.
Mosquitoes are terrible this summer.

I miss Ravinia.
Very achy today after a long 13+ hour workday. Drove to Schiller Park and back to pick up material.
Did take the opportunity to hit Russell's BBQ. They make a this great chicken where they deep fry a complete half chicken with no coating so the skin is very crisp. Their sauce is very different than anything else I've ever had. Made some house calls on the way back in western Illinois. Long day.
Now I have to mow.

Good morning. We're having our first brush with monsoon weather. There are genuine clouds in the sky. There's a 40 percent chance of showers somewhere in the metro area. I hope it's here. A lot of the national forests around Flagstaff are closed because of fire danger so rain anywhere would be a plus.
I went to a nearby park early and photographed lovebirds and sunflowers. I don't really need any more lovebird photos but they're fun to take.
Enjoy your day.

Well I got in the lottery to see if I could win the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Field of Dreams baseball game this year, but I was not selected.
In other bad news, I came up to the cabin this morning and I have a giant tree down, across my driveway. I have a chainsaw with me but no heavy tow strap or chain to pull pieces out of the way.

My daily well-being & reflections It’s considered appropriate and helpful to cultivate and enhance our well-being. It is all too easy to overlook the well-being that is easily available in daily life. Even taking time to enjoy one’s tea or the sunset
My normal day - music & garage sales & errands
Enjoy your days

Don, I would dearly love to see some of your lovebird and sunflower photos. I hand raised a couple lovebirds. Noisy little buggers, but a lot of fun and so damn cute. I had them a couple years, then I gave them to a breeder prior to our somewhat lengthy trip to France. I kind of miss the little buggers (not enough to get another pair, but kinda, sorta close). Anyway, I would love to see pics of those little buggers in the wild. Plus, sunflowers are always a treat to see (especially when there is a combine in the photo mowing them down). What is the story with lovebirds in AZ? Are there lots of them and are they thriving? Are there all kinds of escaped pet birds making a go of it in AZ? Man, I bet the orchard guys are ticked.

Grilled my 24oz ribeye last night. Oh, it was so, so good. Had Hugo's premier potato salad and a couple Leine dark lagers as accouterments. Then I watched the latest Spiderman movie with my darling wife and fellow Marvel Maniac. A perfect evening.

I have yet to see a mosquito either here in town or at the farm. Heard the city's bug control guy commenting about that very thing on the radio. No mosquitoes to speak of in their traps yet. A bit puzzling given the wide spread river flooding this spring, but it is theorized that due to previous very dry fall, the type of still, standing water our mosquitoes prefer just didn't occur, the water soaked into the ground to quickly, while the water that was there was moving river water. And our mosquitos don't like moving river water, or lakes for that matter, they like stagnant puddles, and this year, we didn't have any.
Anyway, we've been open windows and doors (for Casper) with no screens put on yet all spring and so far summer. No bugs. A bee might wander in, but they wander out again (or I do the glass and paper trick and nab them against a window and release them to my iris patch).

Time to drive out to the air force base and watch some airplanes for Bill. The Thunderbirds will roll in around 2:00.

They're feral and started with escaped pets. For whatever reason they adapted well. Most of the time I don't see a lot of them but whenever sunflowers are going to seed, they'll be there. I love them.

Back from grocery shopping, car wash and a Bloody, burger and tots at Manning's Cafe, hit the spot. I passed the fairgrounds a few times on my rounds, on opening day of the Minnesota Street Rods Assn's annual Back to the Fifties extravaganza, thousands and thousands of rods, customs and classics. I saw lots of gorgeous cars, including a bright red '61 Impala bubbletop at the car wash, OMG. Lika dees:

I don't have any video of him flying an F-16, but here he is in a Siai Marchetti S211 Light Jet.
