Tonight is the eve of Yom Kippur, the most serious holiday on the Jewish calendar. It is the annual day of atonement, during which we atone for our sins of the previous year and ask forgiveness of those against whom we have transgressed.
On that note, if I have offended anyone here in the past year, slightly or majorly... Sorry!
This is Yiskor, the conclusion of a day of fasting and introspection. At this point in the day, everyone is famished, dizzy, and looking forward to breaking the fast with family. Everyone looks happy because they know they are going to get to sit and eat soon.
The cantor is the person who sings the prayers and leads the congregation in that singing. This cantor has quite the set of pipes.
Wishing all observers an easy fast.

G’mar chatima tova.
I am not sure a single day of atonement would be enough for me. I would need at least a long weekend.
It’s 40 degrees, hazy, and steam is rising off the pond like you see in vampire movies. I have a feeling warm weather is packing its bags.

Good morning. We had a very enjoyable visit with Marshall and Sue last evening. Today they'll be flying home.
It's 68F and will probably reach about 92F. The very high winds yesterday snapped some big branches that I'll need to cut up and move.
Today I'll finally get in to see the dentist. One previous appointment was scrubbed because he had staff shortages. Another was scrubbed because of my wife's Covid.
It doesn't seem appropriate to wish anyone a happy Yom Kippur, solemn day that it is. We all have things to atone for. Greg Brown spoke for me on this one.
To all of those I've hurt I pray you'll forgive me. I to you will freely do the same so many things I didn't see with my eyes turned inside....
Have a good day.

Good morning, looks like a perfect day weather-wise, sunny and low humidity, with a light breeze and a high of 75 degrees predicted. The dogs and their walkers look contented.
I awoke with a hankering for Indian food, might have to pick up some tandoori chicken later on. Also a trip to Sierra Trading Post is on the agenda.
My exciting life.

Good morning.
59F-78F mostly sunny.
Really must learn to turn my phone off when I go to bed. I get people texting me at 6 A effing M with guitar related questions. I've been known to fall asleep thinking about how to go about fixing or doing something and wake suddenly with the solution and a "I got it!". But I don't text someone at the crack of dawn to tell them. DaWife just groans a "Again?" and goes back to sleep. The most complicated guitar wiring I've ever designed was done while sleeping, another story.
Still waiting on meds. Down to the shop until the pharmacy calls.

Good Morning
Sunny, predicted high in the low 70s. Enjoy it while we can.
After a trip to Lowes for different joist brackets, spending the rest of the day and evening with all four granddaughters. Gonna be tired tonight.

Morning all. Coffee is being consumed, and it’s national taco day, which is apparently a thing. Up next, Wordle.

Our weather is still holding, another perfect day. Breakfast completed although I might have room for a little more coffee.
Music practice this afternoon, last run through before next Saturday's gig. I suppose I'll have to be paying attention.

Good morning, all.
Clinic is quite busy ahead of Fall Break. All the students want to be patched up or medicated or cleared of certain diseases before they head out for the long weekend.
Weather is beautiful.

Don’t know how your smartphone works but my iPhone has a sleep setting that that puts it in do-not-disturb mode during the night. I can tell it to allow calls from certain people so I don’t miss any emergency situations and public emergencies will still come through but all other calls and notifications are silenced until my specified wake-up time.

63 and the sun is shining and we may hit 79 degrees today! Lovely weather. As others have noted, I too shall atone and ask anyone I have offended the past year, please forgive as I forgive others—what a lovely way to start one's day. As Paleo mentioned, practice today ahead of a gig.
Will be a busy weekend for sure. Saturday both Cedar River Whalers & Straightback Chair perform so will be hopping that day! Sunday is another day of music as a friend of ours hosts the "fall hymn sing" at the Holbrook Catholic Church. This is located in what was a very Irish community and the church has been decommissioned. However, a dedicated group of people keeps the church maintained and they do various fundraisers to pay for the annual upkeep. Once in the spring and then again in the fall, a number of musicians congregate to lead a group of folks in hymns of their choice. A number of songs have been printed in a handout and people simply shout out their choices, and then the musicians play the song.
Oh, and cookies are served, that is one of my favorite parts!

We hosted a dinner at a restaurant last night for our HOA. Out of 104 houses, 15 people RSVPd with a "yes." Plus us. That's a normal number for these monthly dine-outs. But there were only 13 of us. Two just didn't show up. One had dealt with car trouble all day and had a deadline to meet. We were informed that another had "blown out" his knee at the gym in the morning. Not sure exactly what that means, but he lives near us, so we'll see if he wants to borrow our crutches or needs anything else.
We dragged ourselves out of bed at 6 AM. We were having our cereal and fruit when it started raining. So we had more hot tea and we're postponing our walk. I got a load of laundry done and accumulated some info for our income tax records. We will probably head to the grocery store soon while we wait for the weather to clear. Zoom social chat this afternoon.

Spotted a potential new Soundholer yesterday. Don't know his name, but he seems to be from the right demographic.

I haven’t posted in the daily for a while.
All is good here with us. Work continues to be busy, and I’m three months in and still working on teams and culture changes.
I’m also letting my security lead go. That’s a tough one, but my person doesn’t have the experience I need.
I’m struggling to get folks to think more than a step ahead. Anyway, it still beats where I was working. The diversity here of thought, culture and experience is fascinating. Watching the kids run around is hilarious too. Good for the soul.
The family is well. Rob reported that she got a 100% on her differential equations exam. Seriously, I know the term but I have no idea what they do. I failed calc II and dropped the make up. 🤷♂️❤️
I hope you all are well.

DiffEq was at 7:30AM, because the professor said if you weren't committed to showing up to class you shouldn't be there. The class and I eventually reached an understanding. That understanding was "C."

I can't imagine needing to know anything beyond that.
