Just after lunch today, UPS delivered the Henriksen Blu amp I ordered a while back. As much as I like the Roland AC-60 I've been using for the weekly jazz sit-in, I kept wishing for a classic jazz sound in a lighter-weight package, and the Blu looked like the answer, despite its hefty list price. (And with no dealers to compete on price and a tiny used market, it's either Henricksen's list price or more patience than a 78-year-old might want to expend.)
It is certainly a lot of amp for the weight, and the lack of a second channel (which the Roland has) is not a problem for the jazz-combo environment. But I'm still figuring out how to wrangle the five-band tone controls to get the chunk-chunk I want for rhythm playing. I suppose the baptism of fire will be tomorrow night. And if it turns out to be too much trouble, Henriksen has a 30-day return policy. . . . (Though my shoulder might have the deciding vote.)
