The 65-69 Corvair was a real pretty car. What have you got against cars built in 1963 and 1964? Done think I haven’t noticed your disdain for those years.

Darwin would have played one. Looking back at the Riversong Web site for the new P2P GA model, and comparing the design to the vid that Marty shared, the new “award winning” model doesn’t have that same end block-bridge plate design. It seems clear that the bridge on the new P2P GA model hast to be glued to the top in the traditional manner.

Have not watched the vid yet but was the problem “trail throttle oversteer”? Definitely issue with VW’s and bathtub Porsches. I learned the hard way to never lift your foot off the gas while cornering aggressively. Actually I learned twice. Luckily no solid objects were in the way of my 360s.
Was that still a problem with the 911 series Bill?

Was that still a problem with the 911 series Bill? Porsche finally engineered their way out of that tendency, but those early 911s killed a lot of people. The Corvair's problem, in a nutshell, was a swing axle and bean counters too cheap to approve an anti-sway bar. It was oversteer for sure, but not really trail-throttle induced.

So, no longer a guitar thread then. It's all Marshall's fault!

The Corvair's problem, in a nutshell, was a swing axle and bean counters too cheap to approve an anti-sway bar. It was oversteer for sure, but not really trail-throttle induced. There was a slightly downhill S turn on a busy two lane street in Omaha that I liked to take in a sporty manner. I had an old 356. Once for some reason I lifted my foot slightly in the middle and in the blink of an eye I did a complete 360 and came out of it going the same direction without losing much momentum. This was in traffic. I just kept going and luckily no one got my plate number. It left a lasting impression. Felt like the whole thing happened in a millisecond with no warning whatsoever.

Quite a story, Terry -- glad it turned out the way it did!
You know, it occurs to me that I've never driven a Porsche, or a Jaguar, or a Ferrari, and the list goes on, although I did drive a Dodge Viper once, what a beast.

"(And I'm still wondering how he got patents on design elements that should have 'prior art' branded all over them.)"
I'm not going to check my facts but I think the history of Singer Sewing Machines may be one example.

My father-in-law, when he was VP of engineering for an automotive supplier, was invited to test drive what was to become the Viper at a track in Germany. He was driving it, marveling at how well it handled and how easily it drove, when a voice came over his headseat: "I'm sorry sir, but we're going to have to ask you to slow down. We don't let non-certified drivers take it over 120."

A sway bar was added to the Corvair in 65. Get the 65. (or 66-69)
