The highest compliment society can offer is for a music style to graduate to Elevator Muzak. Then you know you made it.

Was Kiwi Nixon ever on this forum or was it the old AG forum? Nice person. John & I met her at Front Porch Music many years ago when she was on a layover from a flight at Midway Airport. She lived in Boston, maybe? I don’t recall. Anyone else remember her?

Yes. To the best of my memory, Kiwi was a regular on the old AG magazine forum. When we transitioned out to TTT, I am not sure she came over with us. Maybe for a bit, but she left soon after. Job? A new addition to the family? Illness? I can't remember.
I also remember Cranky Yankee, whose real name was Jim ________...

Jim Swazy(sp?) Kiwi was nice. I think she had a baby which might be why she left. Her time was occupied.

The name Kiwi Nixon, as distinctive as it is, rings no bell for me, regrettably.

Jim Swazy(sp?) Swayze. I believe he was a cousin of some sort to Patrick.

Rob’s post about Blues names is what reminded me of her. That’s how she came up with Kiwi Nixon. When I won the 3 instruments in the AG monthly drawing, Swayze helped put me in touch with a professional Oud player in Boston who bought one of them. He bought the Glissentar, which was a crazy 11 nylon string fretless electric instrument, built by Godin, that was based on the Oud. I sent it out to the guy within 10 days of my receiving it. And breathed a sigh of relief.

Ooh I would have loved that Glissentar. Not paying for it, of course, but playing around with it.

Ooh I would have loved that Glissentar. Not paying for it, of course, but playing around with it. It was strange and I had some fun for a couple of days with it, but I realized I would never produce anything close to music with it. Just as I was wondering what I would do with it, Cranky got in touch and told me his Oud playing friend wanted one. Off to Boston it went.

Wow! That is going for a lot more than they cost in 2000 when I won it. I think I got $600 for it. They were selling for $850-900 at the time—actual price, not list. Of course, I don’t think they make them any longer. I also won 12 sets of strings for it, which I sold to the guy @ a couple bucks each.

Not that badly. There are a few other things I'd do with that money first.

I'd like my blues name to be Big Willie Robicheaux. Kind of rolls off the tongue, don't it? Good. But more Cajun than blues.

I could live with that, Doc.
The only problem is, I never shot a man in Memphis. Or any other city, at that.

That's strange; I heard you shot a man in NYC. I've seen some of your other shots that turned out pretty well, too.

I remember Kiwi Nixon. She was nice. I didn’t remember that LJ won three instruments. I thought it was two. That’s when I started to hate him.
