As usual, I'm working a shortened Friday shift. Weather looks delightful for the long weekend. I have a melanoma check this afternoon, but not much else planned.
Of course, I'll watch the Indy 500 on Sunday. And I heard on the radio this morning that today is the 100th birthday of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

My blues partner is also in another blues band. That band has a new female lead singer that Eric said is quite good. They play tonight in Sun City West, so we'll go check them out and have some dinner there.
It's only in the 70's this morning so the doors are wide open and fresh air is abundant. Some time in the pool today is likely. I found out yesterday that two of my peers (Principle Engineer's from my prior company), who retired around the time I did, are still contracting with the company. One is still working 15-20 hours per week. I did that for 6 years after I retired too, but they're still at it. I do admit to missing the work though.

Good morning.
53F-79F sunny.
Cats had me up at 4am to let them out, they can't get DaWife to do it because she can snore a LOT louder than they can meow and not wake up. Still got a good nights sleep so maybe I'll get some work done today.
Zar still hasn't shown up to cut the lawn but Tyler did it yesterday and left a bit for her today, if she shows up.
Zar got her learners permit, but Grandma or Papa aren't teaching her, her big sister is, in her car. She asked Kaiah if she could learn in Papa's truck but Kaiah knew better. Kaiah got to use my truck when I was in the hospital and I let her use it when she moved, they both really liked it, duh! Papa like his comfort when traveling.

We had a bumper crop of blackberries this year. There are still some emerging, but Diane has declared blackberry season over. She is the one who picks them and the picking is an unpleasant process. The result is wonderful. These are old fashioned blackberries. She will be preserving them for quite a while.

We are having one idyllic May day after another up here in MinnDak country, the kind of weather that makes up for January. Today's high will be 85 WITH a fresh 15-20 mph breeze out of the southwest WITH a dewpoint in the low 50s (52). Come evening, temps will cool reaching the low 60s (62).
Tomorrow will be the same. All week has been the same. Most of May has been the same. Warm days, low humidity, fresh breezes, and cool nights (with enough wind to push that nice sweet night air through the bedroom window).
I have yet to turn on the air conditioner. And I turn on the air at the slightest provocation. But when the air is dry and there is a good breeze, I don't even want it.

Morning. I’m off to Portland in a bit. Taking the ebike in for service. The front brake has been wonky for a while, intermittently rubbing and making noise then magically healing itself, then dragging and heating up. So I want that addressed, whatever it takes. Disc brakes on bikes work good, when they work good, but are a pain when things get weird.
Going to be 84 or so today, it was 68 when I woke up.

Beautiful morning here in Seattle. Aviation museum, among other things, on our list for today.
Yesterday, Granddaughter, having retired from competitive Irish dancing, qualified to compete at the Wisconsin state high school track meet in the 4x800. They got a first place finish at regional Yesterday, winning by more than 10 seconds.
She'll be joining us here in Seattle this afternoon.

Did you ride your bike to Seattle? I know you've been riding a lot lately.
Beautiful weekend coming up here. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are coming for the weekend, will be off to graduations and other things I'm not involved in. So I'll just do what I do, and remind myself not to wonder whose car is in the driveway.

A beautiful day here as well. Set out the Spartan mosquito traps. They actually seem to work.
I have started two guitars for the store I am currently selling through. Willie’s American Guitars in St Paul.

Dine-out with our HOA last night only brought out 12 of us, but it was a good time. A new to us Italian place that had excellent food and service. I had pasta in a light cream sauce with spinach, mushrooms, and tomato and a lot of garlic. Mr. H had chicken fra diavolo. Good conversations, one of which led to an invitation from a member of the Mountain Oyster Club to join them for dinner there soon. mountainoysterclub.com/ I feel like I'm in an episode of "Frasier," the western version, invited to this exclusive club. The downside of last night was that we were seated on the patio. A tad warm. Not much on today's agenda. I think I have our travel plans squared away, 2 cruises and a stay in San Diego, but more details keep popping up. We'll be phoning a friend who is recently out of the hospital and a rehab facility.

I do admit to missing the work though. Boy, I’m with you there. There are very few things as satisfying as having some MBA bean counter keep you in meetings to explain why your project isn’t meeting his imaginary goals that were finalized before the project had been defined or planned. I always loved that.

Tyler is over again today learning stuff, customizing electric guitars. But right now he is out to get lunch from Culver's, I buy he flies. Todays flavor is Butter Pecan, Cheri's favorite, and burgers BBQ Cheddar burger for me.

Ebike update.
I am such an idiot. I have been having intermittent issues with my front brake for a while now. When we were down in California last winter, it would rub and make noise, then it would somehow self heal,at other times drag and heat up, and I kept thinking I should take it in, but then it would seem ok, then act up again. Anyway, yesterday, I went out for a ride and it went wonky, dragging and heating up the rotor, so I got fed up and cut the ride short, and made arrangements to have it looked at today.
The verdict? The front pads were completely gone, metal on metal on the rotor. Which of course fried the front rotor. Rear brakes are still at 50%, so good for now. So, new pads, rotor, and new chain also, and a general check over of the bike, ie check torque values on a couple critical parts, and tighten up the slightly loose headset. Time invested? Twenty minutes. Bike rides great now. Like I said. I’m a genius. 🙄

Back from the derm doc with no indications of any new mellow nomas, so I've been granted a recheck in six months instead of what has been every three.
Celebrating with a Culver's Butterburger and a glass of Roh Zay.
P.S. I am SO GLAD I checked traffic via Google Maps before I left as there was a MAMMOTH traffic jam on I-94 eastbound due to a crash, so I avoided that freeway entirely, took the beltway and crossed over 94 to see a parking lot in both directions.
