Back to work today. I had a nice 4 day break. We have had some needed rain and it looks like we are headed for a dry spell with temps in the high 70s.
I am again house shopping, hoping to escape suburbia but not too far from grandnugget. Finding just the right balance is difficult. Soemtimes I consider packing up, moving to Montana and getting some f.. horses.

I am a few minutes from release, having spent the day getting a pacemaker implanted. I feel fine and should be allowed to drive after a follow up in two weeks.

Good morning. Is anybody still doing Strings To Africa? I can't remember if it was Evan or Todd doing that awhile back. I cleaned out a drawer and have some I'd like to donate. Todd organized it, I was the mule. I'm not going any more.

I don't recall reading that this was planned. Very sorry to see this happened but very glad they caught this. Get well soon. I passed out once in December, once in February. I was driving during the December one with Nancy, my son, and his wife in the car. Thank God I just drifted to a stop beside the road with no damage. This led to a series of tests--30 days wearing a monitor, an echocardiogram, a heart catheterization, a heart MRI, and finally today's electrophysiology test to decide between implanting a pacemaker or a defibrillator. I hadn't talked much about it here, mostly just a note that my Idiot Jam attendance was dependent upon regaining driving privileges, which have been missing for a few weeks. Hoping for, and expecting, increased energy. (And no, my son's name is not Nancy. They are separate people.)

Sounds like you're getting a good thing done, Rob. We really do hope to be able to see you out here.

I’m in the pacemaker club. They are amazing devices, much smarter than I am.

10 pm and the fireworks have started for the night. I think it's a neighborhood competition, warming up for the 4th.

I’m in the pacemaker club. They are amazing devices, much smarter than I am. I am too. Secondary consequence of my heart attack a couple years ago. Somewhere in the testing that followed the original attack they figured out that the that the top and bottom of my heart weren't really coordinating. I guess theoretically, if I didn't have the pacemaker the two halves could set off on thier own schedules at a moments notice which, particularly when doing something like driving, would cause me to pass out. So pacemaker in, monitor beside the bed that keeps the docs posted, and off I go never worrying about it. An added bonus is it freaks the wife out enough that she no longer demands I do difficult or strenuous things around the house like climb tall ladders or clean gutters. Bonus!
