Good morning. Taking the day off to attend a medical appointment/checkup later today. Contractors have been back in action, after waiting for the millworker and crew to finish the cabinetry—it has been a long haul. Here are the results of the past two work days.
Note the new little pantry cabinet below the window where there used to be a radiator we never used.
They are coming back today, ostensibly to finish the cabinets. Have a pleasant day, all.

Very nice. Every kitchen needs stepladder storage and most builders forget that. 😃

Good morning, all.
COVID has hit campus, so I'll be busy for a while. I'll check in when I can. Y'all be good.

Funny, Rob. Those are the contractor's ladders in the niche where the refrigerator will live. There is supposed to be a slot for a super-thin folded step stool my wife purchased.
Shannon: Take good care!

Good morning 70F-98F partly cloudy. Hot and real humid today so I don't plan on going anywhere except my cool basement shop. Getting down the stairs to the shop is a problem right now as my lower back is still acutely painful. Some pain med and an ice pack may improve the situation. I have all sorts of fun stuff to do down there and I can't get to it. I try to remember others here are having worse problems but constant pain makes one selfish. Well wishes to all.

Cool this am, and the smoke is gone. Coffee with the old farts today, then a Costco run. The wife has lunch with a friend so I might visit a mex taco truck that has a “top rated” google rating, planing to jump in the bike this afternoon.

Thanks, Don. It has been a long adventure in project management, mostly for my wife and our architect, who just this morning said it's going to be "heirloom quality."
That made me laugh.

Morning. Cool with just enough mist to confuse the cat.

Wow, I was just editing some ticket listings, and noted that Judy Collins is coming to Minneapolis in early November, will appear in concert at a theater that seats 350 people, at most.

Cloudy and coolish before hot days tomorrow and Thursday.
Rough morning so far. Eldest granddaughter very anxious about starting middle school at a new school with different kids.
Howard - the kitchen looks great. Being heirloom quality, does your daughter want to inherit it?
Shannon - wishing you patience and perseverance in the days ahead.

Another hot one here, fortunately for me I don't have to go outside. Just had a great breakfast, sautéed onion and green pepper, cut up, left over grilled tenderloin, all stirred into a scramblet, which is a cross between scrambled eggs and an omelet. Of course orange juice and coffee were mandatory.
Practice this afternoon for our Boomtown gig next Saturday.

No. She doesn't want to return to New York after university, hoping to live somewhere a little more sane, and I assume once V and I are both gone she and my son will sell and split the proceeds. Your granddaughter will get through it. You should have experienced my kid when she started high school two years ago—talk about anxiety, Mister.
Marty: Do take care. I hope this back pain abates.

Take extreme care on the stairs. Your back pain increases fall risk.

Marty, I hope you find relief soon.
I went to Costco yesterday intent on getting ribeye steak to do a reverse sear to satisfy my steak pangs and to impress my son with my grilling skills. The smallest package had three steaks for $65.
I did some quick math and tried to estimate our food satisfaction for the next week. Instead of $65 for the steak, I spent the same amount for two racks of already cooked and hot ribs, about 12 cooked and hot drumsticks, 4 cream-filled Danish, 4 cherry-filled Danish, and two loaves of French bread. We had an indulgent and delicious dinner and will have many more in the next week. Hopefully, my son, who is somewhat underweight, will do most of the eating.

Yet another reason to visit Iowa, David. Cow is much cheaper here. I hope you get feeling better, Marty. Hot yesterday, hot today, hot tomorrow, hot the next day. It's the first day of school in most places in Iowa, I don't know why their having it, they'll be sending them home in a couple hours I'm sure.

Wow, this is a sweaty day! We're up to 98 degrees and still climbing 100 degrees, and the dewpoint is 77. Very little breeze. Not a good day to be a roofer. I hear Iowa is even worse, and their state fair is up and running, right?
My strategy for the day is working, so far. I ran the central air when I first got up, got the house temp down to about 77, then set the 'stat at 83 and have run the furnace fan periodically to mix warm upstairs air with cool basement air. The interior temp is up to 80, but it's comfortable because the door is nailed shut and no outside humidity has infiltrated.
I ain't goin' nowhere!
