Just not anything worth saying. Can’t get riled up about anything. Sarah Jarosh’s Mad World is all I am listening to.

Lesson in tire-changing accomplished. As a bonus, the car has a full-sized spare, which I don't think I've had on any of my cars since the '72 Dart. Did you all know that Grace Slick was a model for I Magnin before switching full-time to music?

Survived a weekend trip to Omaha for what turned out to be a great wedding and reception.

that's a great thing to hear, Terry. You got out and had a great time. I'm glad it worked out so well for the bride and groom, but it's great to hear that it went well for your as well.

I'm glad it worked out so well for the bride and groom, … Well, let’s hope it does anyway.

No, I didn't know, but I'm not surprised. I was a big Airplane fan.

but how are carriers paid. Are they on a fixed salary? An hourly wage? Piece work? Are additional hours really not compensated at all? Are there no contractual work limits? What does the union say? If work is falling behind, does the USPS bring in time-study people? How do others in the bargaining unit feel about this? The reason the two Claypool carriers will not get paid for the Amazon, even though it clearly almost doubles their workday time, is that rural carriers appear to be paid a salary -- that is, they get the same paycheck each week even though their hours may (and certainly will) vary from week to week.....BUT....that paycheck is still based on an evaluation of how much time (hourly) the route should take them. So, in effect they are still hourly workers. And though they can ask for a new evaluation, two things stand in their way: 1. a re-evaluation was too recently done (the previous evaluation finally reflected Amazon for the other 16 routes in the office, thereby resulting in upwards of $10K raises for those routes....and so they did another evaluation in hopes of getting the previous lower), and 2. They will not do an evaluation during peak season (for obvious reasons). Additionally, the post office will claim that the wage theft will be minimized by the fact that those two carriers will be paid for the second trips the new volume will require. Millie, a 65 year old who has had the larger of the routes for 5 years, has for those 5 years been able to do the route in a Honda CRV. She had no reason to expect this change. Now it will be impossible to fit this volume in her vehicle. And suddenly dependable used vehicles cost more than $10K. Way more than $10K. Millie used to finish her route in a 7 hour day (obviously before this mess she was coming out ahead, hour-wise), but the past two days, rather than finishing her work day between 2:30 and 3:00 (a 7-8 hour day), she has been working until 7PM. She will have to quit.

I’ve been through that airplane a couple of times when it was on display at Long Beach. Is it on display anywhere now?

I went through the Queen Mary as well. I think Disney bought that whole area and they were going to make some kind of amusement park. I don't know whether they ever did that or not but they evicted the Spruce Goose. It was taken apart and stored for a long time. Glad to learn it's on display again.
