Good morning, good people. We'll have 50s-70s, which is ten degrees above normal on both ends.
The chuck roast I cooked in the smoker yesterday was terrific. We ate a third, I froze a third and I'll have a third for lunches this week.
Yesterday I wrote most of a song for the first time in years. A pretty good one, too. It was fun. I've been channeling those impulses into poems. I don't intend to stop writing poems but they're usually a lot more difficult to write. Maybe I'll see if I can write enough songs to justify playing another set sometime.
Enjoy your day.

Storming in New York this morning. Raining hard, with up to 50 mph winds expected, plus two to four inches of rain today. I am glad we live on a hill, not so glad I have to commute into Manhattan today, or that my daughter has to walk 15 minutes to school.
Keep calm and put your foulies on.

It’s dark here. We have appointments so we are up early. It’s supposed to be cold for 24 hours and then back to the mid & upper 50s. This is unusual Chicago area weather, but it is ok with me. Stay well.

Despite the fact that we have a small lot, I've been trapping animals on the regular. This morning it was another possum, big brother maybe to yesterday's catch. That makes 5 'coons, 2 possums and 1 rat. Didn't expect this much wildlife in a fairly dense urban environment...

Blinding snow & strong winds just blew in. Did I mention we have had crazy weather? I can’t see beyond the edge of the patio. This is the famous lake effect snow. The wind is supposed to turn and blow the worst of it into the next couple of counties.

The garbage people have done their job on this chill Monday, so we're off to a good start. Gotta make a Christmas related trip to Cedar Rapids this morning, and, if it's ready, pick up my big computer from the repair shop.

(When Hobson checks in, I want to know if the three people who couldn't figure out when to come in on their solos figured it out.)

Morning. Cold and clear here. Got a few mid day hikes in this weekend. Cooked a tri tip the neighbor gave us for Christmas. Tuned a guitar down to E flat and worked out Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town". Slept in to almost 8 am both days. All in all not bad.

Yesterday's cantata went surprisingly well. And everybody with a solo came in at the right places. Some a bit pitchy, but I'm sensitive to that, so it probably wasn't that noticeable. There is a video. However, the balance on that is way off. Can't hear the string section at all even when they are the only ones making noise and all of the solos are very loud. I am told that it was not that way in person.
This morning I take Mr. H to his annual visit with the ophthalmologist. Tomorrow he takes me to the retinal specialist for a shot in the eye. We are a team.

Good morning.
16F-28F mostly sunny.
Back to more normal temps for a day or so but the long forecast says next weekend will be warm.
I'll do some shop time today and see a client.

Good morning. Sunny, windy and chilly here in Florida. I was going to go to Tampa this morning to straighten out an issue with my season tickets with the Lightning but they finally returned my call and we got things straightened out. So, I guess I'll have to use that time to change some strings and play some music. Have good ones.

Snowing with temperature hovering near zero. Accumulation is acceptable because I just got the snowblower back with a new electric starter (I'm too old to be yanking a starter cord)

Morning.
Working on the Christmas letter. It might not make it out before Christmas, but then, it never does.

Morning all. Yesterdays smoking of salmon came out beyond fab. Because most all of it will be gifted I think I need to stop at Costco and pick up another four lbs or so and smoke it for our own consumption. Mixed in w it’s some cream cheese, spread on a toasted bagel, topped with an egg it’s a winter delight. Today, I’m picking up a eye if round roast I’ve ordered for Xmas dinner with the kids, following the recipe in the current Cooks Illustrated magazine. The plan is to use it for French Dip Sammie on the big day.
Today, not much happening. Steve Grimes who I follow on FB posted a really nice video of his original song, Lahaina Town, performed last night by himself, John Cruz, Jack Johnson, and Mick Fleetwood. It’s worth a listen, and I shared it on my FB page but don’t know how to post it here, so…
That’s all I got.
Mike

Getting ready for my last two gigs of the year. We polished up all of our Christmas tunes to add to our music mix. It’s going to be a fun/busy week.

It's a day of music and I think I wrote a song. I've been driving and watched people..... I saw my cronies I just waved I didn't talk to anybody. Actually I did call a barista "I need a banana" for my smoothie. We'll see whether I'm going to do play piano or just listening it
It's a reasonable day at the rain - drizzing

That makes 5 'coons, 2 possums and 1 rat. Didn't expect this much wildlife in a fairly dense urban environment... We let our dogs out in the fenced in backyard at night rather than go for night walks. Occasionally we get rats trying to settle in under our backyard shed. The dogs go bananas and I set out traps to end that nonsense. The other night a possum was in the yard, the dogs went berserk driving the possum to the top of the fence, and I had to get the dogs out of there before they got into with the possum and possibly get bit. I didn't want to get into it with the possum either. Fortunately, I got them out of there without incident. Don't know if I'm going to set out traps for the possum though.
