Bright & sunny. I can’t recall ever hearing a Tobey Keith song, but, then, I don’t listen to Country. 62 is too young, though. Off to romp and play. Definitely too young. I think he was very popular. I don’t think I’ve ever heard one of his songs either. I thought they quit having country music around 1980 or so.

Built in 1885 Lutsen has had two other fires 1949 & 1951. They are using the 1951 plans for the rebuild. Shouldn’t they be taught not to play with matches?

I got mugged. By a virus, woke up at 2:00 and had to visit the ceramic phone. Several times. Not fun, been running a low grade fever all day with aches. Not fun. I felt crappy enough that I tested, but it was negative. So, ginger ale and sudoku, for awhile.

I have since learned he was one of the people who played a part in tearing down the Dixie Chicks during the Bush administration, and was called out for his racist anti-Muslim vitriol by Kris Kristofferson at the time. I still like that song.

I don't know about ceramic phones but I know a lot about driving the porcelain bus.

In its first half century Lutsen was fairly difficult to reach as MN 61 was not paved until 1941 and the only other ways to get people and supplies there was by railway in Winter and/or ship in Summer. Wood stove would have been the heating method and oil lamps for lighting. Good combination for a fire.

huh...and all this time I thought the Dixie Chicks were responsible for their own demise with the remarks they made during a concert. Those remarks didn't sit well with their fan base and the fans demonstrated their disapproval. As far as Toby is concerned, I prefer to remember him for the 18 USO tours he did, his pro-American anthems and for his recognition of the sacrifice of the men and women who serve in the armed forces.

Yep. Write your songs. Sing your songs and say what you need to say there. Otherwise shut up.

Otherwise… It will never be an issue because I'm not stupid (or full of myself) enough to publicly insult over half of my customer base. I've found I can sell more doors by keeping politics out of it and keeping the pontificating to a minimum. Crazy innit?

Yes and no. I mean I get it. I made a career working with some people with wildly different world views than my own. I always tried to find the good in people I worked with and concentrate on that side and ignore the other.
But if you're career takes you to a point where you become a symbol that is inconsistent with you core beliefs, you have a right to speak out. And it's a braver thing to do to jeopardizer your future success in order to correct a perception and stand up for what you truly believe.
