My town of 36,000 has a newly built venue opening this month. Seats about 600 so I don't expect they will book The Eagles or Taylor Swift as the ticket price required to attract a major national act would be many hundreds of dollars. The grand opening night features Judy Collins, who I would enjoy seeing, but not for $200. Lisa Loeb and Christopher Cross have shows scheduled later this summer. A number of performers scheduled are unknown to me, though some of you may be familiar with them. Nice to have the venue only two miles from my house but I don't know how often I will attend. www.hendrickslive.org/events

Taylor Swift performs for 40,000 people at a time. If tickets run $100 each (only a guess) thats four million per show. To play your new performing arts center, each ticket would need to cost $6,667 each. I'm guessing she could still pack the house at that price.
There are venues in our area (Cedar Rapids-Iowa City) that are like yours but we seldom go. They used to book our kind of music but that has been replaced by acts we choose not to go see.
I'm guessing the acts they now book appeal to people with more disposable income.
Sigh.

Thanks for the suggestion, Howard, but I don't think that sample fits my ancient ears.

Jimmie Vaughan is Stevie Ray's older brother and former guitarist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

That's OK, Rob. It was merely a suggestion. It's still a shame Mantovani died. 😃

They have several tribute acts scheduled. Maybe they will book a Mantovani tribute.🎶😀

Morgan James looks interesting. Morgan James aka bubble gum music to be disposable and contrived.....Spears, Cyrus, Paris H, Duff, Kate Perry, Kelly Clarkson, et al. I don't think I've listened those singers.... We're all unique........

I'm catching him the night before in Cincinnati. The Hendricks Live wasn't on his website, or I might have scored tickets there. I've seen Matthew Sweet in 1993, twice in 1995, 2001, 2011, and 2016. And now next Tuesday. Backstage twice: 1993, when my then-wife wrote his mom a note to see if we could get backstage (his parents were family friends of hers), and in 2011, when I gave him this guitar I made.

Wow! I see they've booked "The Duck Band" this November 14th. Man, I would go see them, if I wasn't in them.
(tickets should be reasonable)

Stanley Clark looks like the real thing. I’d check him out. Stanley is one of the few electric bassists that can get away with performing solo.

He is a most excellent bass player. I saw him play in the early 1970s when he was in Chick Corea's band, Return to Forever. The other musicians were Al DiMeola on guitar, Lenny White on drums, Chick Corea on keyboards. Talk about a super group, mister!
Here is a video of Corea and Clarke playing a duet in 2015.

I saw Judy Collins twice, many years ago. Once was in Louisville in 1969 and the other time was at Gammage Auditorium in Tempe in 1980. Even at the Tempe concert her voice was past its prime. The venue was so cool that I didn't really mind. Edit: "The process that led to construction of [Gammage] auditorium began in 1957 when incumbent university President Grady Gammage desired a unique facility for the ASU campus. In 1956, a collapsed roof rendered the school’s combination auditorium/gymnasium unusable. Gammage recruited his friend Frank Lloyd Wright to design the new building. He would, with various budget related alterations, base its design on a circular opera house that he had conceptualized for the city of Baghdad sometime prior upon the invitation of Iraqi King Faisal II. Plans for that opera house were abandoned after Faisal’s assassination in the 14 July Revolution. Wright is also said to be responsible for siting the auditorium, selecting an athletic field at 1200 South Forest Avenue which had formerly held on-campus G.I. housing units. "Wright and Gammage both died in 1959, leaving Wright's protégé William Wesley Peters to undertake completion of the auditorium." Wikipedia.
