Howard, I don't think you'd like rural Utah. But I do. "As of the 2010 census, 797 people, 334 households, and 217 families lived in [Escalante, Utah]. The population density was 271 people per square mile (105/km2). There were 420 housing units at an average density of 143 per square mile (55/km2). The racial makeup was 95.4% White, 2.1% American Indian and Alaska Native, 0.5% Asian, 0.1% Black, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, 1.5% from other races, 0.3% from mixed racial ancestry and 3.5% Hispanic or Latino of any race." Wikipedia.
We spent nine days traveling through Utah, doing the national park circuit, in the early 2000s before our daughter came along. I truly enjoyed the wondrous landscapes there. We hardly saw ANY people, let alone white or people of color. In retrospect, most of the people we saw were white, but we were only passing through. I suppose my original post was intended to suggest a place to which I wouldn't want to relocate and take up residence. Besides, some of my best friends are white guys. 😃

"White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent"? Is that somehow different than, "White alone percent"? The larger number includes whites who identify as Hispanic/Latino. The smaller number does not. I've never asked my born in Mexico brother-in-law how he identifies but if you met him on the street he would not strike you as Mexican. So is it kind of like gender these days?

Wikipedia. Out of curiosity I checked out the population density of Comanche County KS, home of the Pyle family farm. 2.1 humans per sq. mi. I don't think there's a breakfast place in the whole county.

We’ve got diversity out the ying Yang here in nh. I see a non white person here at least a couple times a month. PS We have an enclave of Africans out by the mall in Concord, some sort of immigration program. Has provided some exceptional athletes to the Concord High athletics programs, especially track and soccer.

Race and Hispanic Origin, Boise
White alone, percent 85.0% Black or African American alone, percent(a) 1.5% American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a) 0.6% Asian alone, percent(a) 3.4% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent(a) 0.3% Two or More Races, percent 6.8% Hispanic or Latino, percent(b) 9.1% White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent 81.2%
That's pretty diverse! Here's ours: Population White alone, percent 96.9% Black or African American alone, percent(a) 0.8% American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a) 0.4% Asian alone, percent(a) 0.6%

Hmmm, Baton Rouge:
Population White alone, percent 37.2% Black or African American alone, percent(a) 52.5% American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a) 0.2% Asian alone, percent(a) 3.8%
Missing percentages I see.

I grew up in Tipton County Indiana. The makeup of the county is 97.6% white, 0.4% Asian, 0.2% black or African American, 0.1% American Indian, 0.7% from other races, and 1.0% from two or more races.
As far as density, I estimate only about 25% are what I would describe as dense.

Wow! 85% white. That's not very diverse. I much prefer the diversity of my town, Grand Forks. We have a healthy balanced mix of cultures: 38% Norwegian, 26% Swedish, 24% non-Scandinavian White, 12% something else. I'm so invigorated by my daily exposure to this vibrant blend of humanity, there are days I can actually feel my brain growing. Well, that, or else it's those brownies I get from FC.

I work with a Mexican, three Puerto Ricans, and a lesbian. What do I win in the diversity stakes?
I hope it's a new car.

This is Brooklyn, as of the 2022 census, and I am sure this has changed in the ensuing two years due to the wave of immigration from Latin America.
