Our annual Snail Races take place in CP today.
Looks like this year’s race will start before last year’s contestants come in.

Today I was able to get downstairs to where my STUFF is. First time since March 13th! Everything is still there!!!
Even my Victrola!
Good, good day!

Of course, I haven’t gotten back upstairs yet.

Made our way up to Kalamazoo for a dog show today. IceSha was awarded something called "select". Essentially, it's a place behind best in breed, best of opposite, and reserve. Sort of a fourth place except that the way breed is awarded the sexes are divided. So it's sort of second place too.

For dinner I followed a recipe by Lidia Bastianich for shrimp and melon salad with basil-mint pesto. Thumbs up from everyone. We have mint and basil in our yard so it was a frugal meal.

Another Indy 500 in the books. What a memorable day. Weird is one word that I keep repeating. We anticipated a complete rain out until suddenly the game was afoot in the middle of the afternoon. Green flag didn’t drop on schedule at 12:45,, but three hours later they were underway. Lots of silly wrecks in the early part of the race, , and 1/3 of the first half of the race was run under yellow. There were very interesting strategies as things came into focus towards the end. A tank of gas would last about 35 laps, so at 70 to go, the game was afoot. Ultimately in the last 10 laps, there were multiple lead changes, and the winner set himself up in second place, ready for the clinching pass on the penultimate lap. It was one of the more memorable races I’ve seen since I started going when I was eight years old.

UPS wouldn't agree:

An estimated 90% of the turns made by UPS delivery trucks are right turns, and that’s intentional, according to the Washington Post. Left turns are seen as inefficient, because they leave trucks sitting in traffic longer.
