Something don't sound right with those specs. 8 AA batteries would provide 12v. AA batteries are rated at 2 amps output. Power is equal to voltage x current, so 12 x 2 would equal 24 watts, and that's the input Power. Amp is probably only 50% efficient so you could expect about 12 watts of output. |

There is a power output switch and I think it's safe to say the 20 hour run time is on the ECO setting. Probably 2 hours at best on the MAX setting.
But there is no reason one could not build and use an external battery supply. This would not be that difficult and you might even be able to convert a rechargeable lithium battery phone charger to the use.
For busking that thing is a powerhouse of compact efficiency with enough inputs for everything including a iPad for your backing tracks.
Anders has 2 large EV powered speakers off to the side and his somewhat heavy back unit is wireless to those.

I bought one for playing outdoors gigs during the pandemic. It’s a great little amp. It runs a surprisingly long time on eight AA’s.

Thanks. We’ll see how well it works. Our local Guitar Center had one at $150 discount so I bought it.
I did spend some time playing through it before deciding.

It's an absolute shame that, having worked there long enough to retire, you don't retain some discount privileges in retirement. But, having followed your saga of working there it does not surprise. |

I've been working in and teaching electronics since 1964, mostly Mil Spec electronics where everything is defined in great detail.
It's to 50w in the spec that I questioned. Commercial manufacturers are great at throwing out great sounding specs, without explaining how those specs are derived or tested.
Just a guess, but I suspect the 50w is a peak power figure that could be reached on a voice spike. So, a peak power spec, but they don't say that. Average power it probably more useful but there is no average power speck.
In the end, if it does what you want it to do, and is reliable, don't worry about the questioned specs, just use it and be happy.

I agree. They product writers at the old job used to warn us about this. What I think, like you do, is that at peak the output is 50 watts, but not continuously—would that make more sense?
@ Rob Hanesworth It is a shame indeed, but they are notoriously miserly when it comes to employees. I plan to shop anywhere but there when the need arises for certain types of products.

The best rendition of Dire Straits’ “Sultans of Swing.” Those guys are great! They each have their own Roland CUBE street EX and I’m guessing they’re using the feature that allows two to be interconnected and serve as a single system. I’m very impressed with the CUBE Street EX so far. I think we’ll use it at a farmers’ market on Thursday. A friend was scheduled to play but is having hernia surgery instead and asked us to fill in for him. We’ll see how it goes. |

I have seen a few videos of these two street musicians. They do some Pink Floyd tunes beautifully, too.

It does, as you note, provide for using phone-based backing tracks but only as a plug-in device. |
