Good morning from Brooklyn.
The sun isn't up yet, but I am—trying to help get the girls on the road for their long weekend coastal holiday. A friend has offered her house on the Maine coast for a few days. I can't go because the return trip conflicts with a medical appointment next week. I am up and at it, ready to make coffee and heat up the cornetti for breakfast.
Lots of errands on the agenda later, after I go back to bed for a couple of hours.
Have a good day today, folks.
(On Edit: The girls are well on their way. I miss them already. Plus, we're getting a thunderstorm here now, but Her Grace texted and said it's only drizzling in Connecticut and they are "driving away from the clouds.")

Howard, I hope you're having pleasant dreams. As for the rest of you, wake up and snort the coffee.

Oddest start to Wordle ever for me. Granted, I'm not using the "two starter word" method I started with (I think I got the two words, which I have now forgotten, from you, Don) but I've never had zero letters in the first two words.

I managed to get up (slowly), go for a walk, have some porridge and brew some coffee. Work beckons.

Thank you, but I couldn't get back to sleep. Her Grace is keeping me updated via text from the navigator's seat in the car.
I pulled my 1950s Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter from the closet and typed a note to mail to a friend. A great Mark Twain quote I encountered the other day reminded me of him. Maybe it's time for some breakfast for me now.

Getting ready for PT. Called the dealer service dept and a tow truck will get my car later. They can figure out what’s wrong easier than I can. I had to coordinate the time with PT but they were nice about that. The car still has a few thousand miles of warranty left and, if it’s the battery they replaced last November, that should be covered. It’s the weekend, though, so I will probably have no car for a few days. A pain, but at least a fairly manageable pain. I believe it was Aristotle who once said, “It’s always friggin’ something!” Coffee, where art thou?

Good morning. Getting ready to go to the urologist to get the results of my PSA test and have a cystoscopy. I'm not looking forward to the procedure, but the prostate is clogging things up, so I've got to get it taken care of. Pretty sure that roto rooter procedure is next. I've been told they've made some changes and it's not as bad as when I had it done 12 years ago. We'll see.....
Have a great day.

Good morning, all.
A very hot day is in store, but I'll be cool inside the clinic.

I'm at my cabin this morning.
Last weekend, while I was in Wisconsin, I received a text from a neighbor here at the lake, telling me another tree had fallen in my driveway (3rdthis year). There was a close up picture, but I couldn't tell exactly where it was.
I came up this morning, prepared to play lumber jack. When I arrived I found the tree had fallen parallel with the driveway, not blocking it. The tree is, was, a 60 ft tall red oak. It was the weak side of 2 trees growing together and broke off about 5 ft above the ground. It's big, 24-28 inches in diameter, resting on the broken stump and it's branches.
It's not something I want to get near or under, I've had one close call with a tree, i don't want another. I suspect the bottom section would produce some good lumber but I'm not touching it.

If you can find someone with a "wood-mizer" sawmill and young people with chainsaws to cut and transport it there could be some fine lumber in that trunk. Five years ago we had an elm tree taken down in our back yard. I found a guy with a sawmill and kiln to cut it into live edge slabs and planks and dry it. I sold most of the live edge slabs, made enough to cover the costs of sawing and drying, and had enough left over for my own projects. (Not assuming you have an interest in lumber marketing)

Rain overnight, muggy today.
Headed out to Grand Haven on the lakeshore for a meetup with the guys from last summer's banjo camp. Might do some jamming, might just yak and compare instruments (some of they guys are still acquiring various stringed instruments). The host is a veterinarian and winemaker. Mostly old guys who paly at a beginner/intermediate level, so my mediocre skills will not be a deterrent.

Good morning.
67F-87F sunny.
Going to be a quite warm day so the house is closed up and AC on.
Got one estimate for yard clearing yesterday 4K YIKES!!! It's bad but not THAT bad.
Off to an INR and then I'll see if I can find a lawn service willing to take on our yard for a reasonable price.

Eric and I have a gig set for the next Thursday. It's time to start running through the setlist to prepare. We'll be doing about 10 new songs this time. ...and it's too hot to go outside.

All is well in England. People making arrangements for Sunday's England v Spain football final. My plans are a bit uncertain.
This is quite a spiffy duet.

(Not assuming you have an interest in lumber marketing) Kiln dried select grade 4/4 plain sawn red oak hit and miss surfaced costs about $2.55 a board foot. White oak on the other hand has been the hot species since Covid began and is currently running about $6.50 a board foot. Oh.....good morning all!

Some red flowers popped up amongst the hostas and daisies. Using my trusty “picture this” plant identifier app it turns out to be a China Rose. Hot and humid, gig in New London tonight. Thankfully indoors.

Imported? Maybe you can impose a 10% tariff on them.

Purchased a trail bike yesterday: a Honda CRF300 LS. It was "used" in that it had 22 miles on it. Today I have an appointment to look at a 2022 Honda Ridgeline Pickup.

Looks as if the high-pressure dome that's been cooking us for the last two weeks is moving towards the center of the US. It's a nasty summer.
