When I started bike riding for weight loss 3 years ago I got a Raleigh cross training bike. A decent entry level street bike for an old fart like me looking to lose some weight. Since then I've gotten pretty fanatical for riding. Got the Trek Marlin 5 mountain bike, perfect for me but.......I started looking into a better street bike. Yesterday I got caught in a pop-up thunderstorm and while racing home I hit a pothole and screwed up my rear tire. Took it into the shop to get it repaired and while there came across a Fuji 700C Crosstown bike. It's got everything I want that the Raleigh doesn't, hydraulic disc brakes, seat and front fork shocks, top of the line derailer, most comfortable bike seat I've found to date, much better handling in corners. All around a big step up. Plus, Claire's ok with me getting it so I'm a happy camper. Took it out for the first ride earlier this evening and it was all I hoped for. Great stuff! Oh yeah, I weighed myself and I'm down to 192 lbs. Under 200 for the first time in about 40 years.

Nice bike Ken - the front shocks and seatpost shocks are nice to have for any surfaces other than smooth asphalt pavement, and you will appreciate the disc brakes.

Had a much earlier version of the Fuji Crosstown. Way before disc brakes. Loved that bike. Alas, it was stolen.

I like a kickstand and a wing mirror on a bike. It took a while to get the hang of limiting mirror use to only very brief, occasional glances so as not to miss any surprise happenings ahead.
I just replaced my kickstand for the second time. The previous ones both snapped under the strain of heavy shopping in my panniers. Anyway, happy bike trails Ken!

Street riding mandates a mirror, in my mind.

I got a video player for my bike. It helps to able to watch a movie during some of those longer 2-3 mile rides.
