That is my prognostication." I read it as suggesting that we bring a little humility to discussions here. That's always a good idea. Well, then why not just get to the root and tell Shannon to tone it down rather than throwing all us innocents into the same barrel? |

You can boil water over open flame in a paper cup. We did that at Boy Scout camp. You will also burn off the top edge of the paper cup down to the level of the water, which makes it really hard to pick up the cup of boiling water. |

You should begin feeding Cichlasoma portalegrensis fry newly hatched brine shrimp shortly after the egg sack has been absorbed, usually 3-4 days after free swimming has commenced (roughly a week after hatching, so have your brine shrimp nursery set up).
The guy that said as soon as free swimming has commenced is an idiot! The egg sack is there for a reason!

Rip currents are easy to manage if you know what to look for. Surfers use them to get outside of the breaking waves, sort of like an invisible rope tow. Of course they are not really invisible. What happens is that breaking waves push water towards the shore, raising the water level. The water contained in the higher level seeks equilibrium and forms a current back out towards sea. This “rip current” is visible as a stretch of choppy water. To get out of a rip current, all one needs to do is is swim at a 90° angle across the current, usually towards breaking waves and let the whitewater push you into shore. People who are not experienced in the ocean tend to be afraid of the breaking waves, but really the white water is your friend and will push you into the beach.
