"I heard of string4africa in french radio a long time ago... It is a good idea I have not so much string to send...only mine"
WOW, heard of us on French radio?! Wonderful!

So it was our Strings to Africa? That is REALLY cool! Knob, I'll let you know when the box arrives. You have been way to generous over the years, lots of Africans you have never met have shaken your hand.

Some of my co=workers are in a rock band called the Giving End. I approached them about donating some strings. They are gonna talk to the guys in the group and see. They are trying to set a good image even though they are pretty heavy metal. A lot heavy metal. But the guy that I spoke to thinks it is a good idea.

yeah Evan, that was a nice surprise. I wonder how they heard about us on FRENCH radio. Their ears must have been ringing from all those threads that happen periodically around here. BTW, I think it's a guy, whose name is Christian. We just flip first and last name in correspondence here in the old continent. Hopefully he'll find a way to contribute. gf

Christian could always contribute through Strings.com or some other on-line place. Very odd, but cool how it was mentioned on French radio.
In the meantime, strings (and picks) are starting to come in, making for a good start for the campaign. What fine folks you are!

Surely will, Mike. One person sent in strings, and I can't figure out who he is. I've got your email, though, so I'll let you know as soon as they come in. Thanks!

I'll check tomorrow morning, Knob. There's a group of retired people who check the P.O box daily as I'm out of town when the post office is open. they notify me weekly, and my last call was from last Friday. I'll check with them tomorrow.

Incidentally, we usually get such a good response I can't tote everything. Not to worry, since I'm making three trips this year. February 19 I head off to Kenya (I'll be toting J's new McGill with me as well which I'll deliver to Amsterdam), in May to Tanzania and September to Rwanda. Just imagine Rwandese guitarists stringing up with a set purchased on the back of a withheld Maidrite. Such a sacrifice... Where are you going in Kenya, Evan? I sponsor two children who live near Marsabit. That activity is done through a great charity, which I recommend, called Food for the Hungry.. www.fh.orgHave a good trip. El

I'm not altogether sure, El. I heard Mt. Elgon near the Ugandan border. Then I heard Mumias, the sugar cane plantation area, also near the U. border.

VI, did you get my contribution?
I checked the order status and got this messege:
We attempted to deliver your item at 6:34 AM on February 2, 2007 in VINTON, IA 52349 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
So I was wonderin'
Mike

Well, Mike the PO box is checked every Friday, when I pick them up from the group that checks the box. The last time that was done was on Feb. 2nd, around 2:00 pm our time. I know more stuff has arrived, though. Let me make a call this afternoon and see what's up.
