Does the size of the hole matter ?
How big is a watervapor molecule ?
If you want to play the blues, would a blue soap dish be better ?
Would a happy face cut-out be bad for melancholy music ?
Why am I so confused ?

Why am I so confused ? In order - Yes About six or eight angstroms (has nothing to do with #1) No, it should be black and blue, and be constructed in the school of hard knocks (school yell - ouch) If you are cutting out happy faces instinctively, you shouldn't be playing melancholy music. Try the Beatles maybe. The early stuff. (best psycologist face) I don't know, why are you so confused? Paul

Marty, thanks, these are great. I have been using the Planet Waves, they recommend distilled water...they work ok, go dry very quickly and then there is the issue of mold, your system addressed that much better.
Seems to me like this has to be attached to the bottom end of the case, where the body of the guitar sits, up by the headstock I bet the moisture will not make it to where it is needed most.
Emailing you right now, exalted you too.

In most guitar cases you can fit one box under the headstock one and under the heel. You're not just humidifying the guitar, humidify the whole environment and you humidify the guitar. Molded cases like the SKBs are the exception, not only do they not have enough room for the boxes but the beaded foam will take all the humidity the boxes can put out not leaving any for the guitar.

"Molded cases like the SKBs are the exception"
Good info Marty. I humidify the house so it doesn't matter unless I take a guitar on a 2-4 day trip and the one I do that the most with is a beater in a SKB.

I have my guitars stored in a cabinet with lights on 24/7 along with other valuables, if only I knew this was one way of keeping your guitars from molds this certainly would've saved me a lot on my electricity bills. Thanks a lot Marty

I now use clear boxes from Walmart, well really I get them in *bulk from the manufacturer, but Walmart has them.
I also use a centering jig on my drill press table. Slap a box into the jig, drill it, flip it around and drill the other hole.
I've also been thinking about trying a step drill bit which may do the job without leaving a rough edge.
Hole size is 1-1/8", although slightly smaller or larger will work.
* 300 box minimum to get a good discount and since the Podium closed I'm not doing them in bulk anymore.
